I bet the DVD/bluray sales are great for this movie seems like those word of mouth movies. I thought it was a good movie but it reminded me of that nicolas cage movie next a lot.

There is no doubt that this movie will make money. Still has no chance of not bombing in N.A

But after it makes a ton of money WW, it will go on to make even more money on DVD/Blu-Ray/ Netflix/ cable/etc.

If it was Cruise not sure how you explain Oblivion last year doing well.

To me most people just do not know about it or what it is about. It is going up against Spider-Man, Godzilla, X-Men and Maleficent which are all established properties. Feels like Elysium situation to me where a big name actor is not enough to carry a film when general audience are not sold on it. Sadly, it being good or not is not the most important aspect.

Except Oblivion did terrible at the box office.  $89 million domestic box office for a $120 million production budget is awful.

How about that. I just remember it doing 30 million and being number one movie, had no legs apparently.  Edge of Tomorrow looks set up for a far worse showing and for a more expensive film.  Be lucky to break even.

If I were to assign percentages on the reason for this film doing poorly:

80% - Tom Cruise
20% - bad marketing

I think it has something to do with Tom Cruise. Apart from family entertainment, many Americans are interested in sensationalist celebrities who give off an aura of danger and somewhat craziness. This contrasts with Tom Cruise's personality, who has always portrayed himself as a calm, reasonable man of moral character; hence the lower sales.

A lot of u.s movies 'bomb' in their home country but are still mega worldwide hits. Tom Cruise is as popular around the world as he is unpopular in america. This was just not as well sold to the audience as the other summer blockbusters and alot of peoples hard-earned cash had already been spent. Def a bad release spot. It seems young girls are the go to market nowadays in america if you need an eady hit , maleificent and frozen are ridiculously and undeservably massive there and its a phenomenom catching on round the world.

I watched it and it was a great movie but the reason nobody is going to see it is because of Tom Cruise. Scientology is a cult and nobody wants to watch anyone who has anything to do with it. Travolta's career is dead and Cruise's career is on its way to dying.

Haven't been to the movies in years. I just wait a little bit for the blu-ray release.

You'd be 100% wrong.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

im gonna watch it, its based on a manga (that if im not wrong) is called "All you need is Kill"... i think it lacked more marketing.
