Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pachter: Xbox ONE should have the advantage over the long term.

MS has spent a lot of money on devices that was "sure" to go nowhere: Zune, Windows Phone, Surface etc! Why not throw some money on something that can succed? If they want to win this they have to sell with a loss.
Give away the hardware and profit on the software, subscriptions and advertisment.

i think the surface doesnt do that badly tbh, generating more that 500million in revenue each quarter, meaning like 5-6million sold a year.

EDIT: I havent seen much of patcher so i dont know, but is he like the equivalent of what toastboy is to these forums?  (no hate)

Systems Owned: PS1, PS2, PS3,PS4, Wii, WiiU, xbox, xbox 360, xbox one

Anyone remember Pachter talking about Skype integration on Xbox one and how that was a big deal.
Apparently he doesn't either...

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Maybe Halo sequels, collections, remakes, prequels and whatever 343 Industries released will make the system sold better than PS4 in the US in the future. I'm European. And I don't like shooters, especially Halo-like.

lol, "with the price neutralized they'll by based on what they friends have"

advantage goes to the console with more console sold. who's that again? oh yeah, ps4.

Sounds like Patcher is lonely and he want's his friends to buy an X1 so he's got someone to play with. Mehdi's problem appears as he can't get owners of a 360 to get an X1 he is now trying to convince owners of a PS4 to get an X1 and own both. Thing is when he talks about owning both I thought he meant a Wii U to go with a PS4!

Man, first it was Lair. Then Heavenly Sword. Then... Oh? We're talking about a different console?

Do these people get paid to write such an abominable piece?

Anyhow it's Pachter. So far sales speak against Xbox ever taking over in the US. Let's see what e3 has in store.

And of course what Kitler wrote. People buy what their friends buy/bought... so in essence ps4 is gonna obliterate xboxone in the US.

Well, XOne should have already had the advantage? Every couple of months there is a new advantage:
- NFL and TV will give it advantage --- ok, if not then...
- Kinect will give it advantage --- ok, maybe not, but wait for...
- Titanfall, that will give it advantage --- oh, well...
- No Kinect, now that will give it advantage --- pretty soon...
- Just wait for Sunset Overdrive
- Just wait for Halo remasters
- Just wait for the holidays
- Just wait for Halo 5

It seems to me that the only advantage XOne has is the endless wait for the sales to pick up. Long term, there's bound to be something that will in the end prove to be an advantage... If there is anyone left still waiting for it...

The problem is that all it has done is close the gap, it's not creating a gap to the PS4..... so I don't agree, over the longer term PS4 still has that advantage. I suspect Sony will bring a new PS4 with a bigger hard drive at the same price, which will be another kick in the teeth to XBO. They have reduced the price, its still a weaker console, it will then have a smaller HD. This to me feels like last gen, where every time Sony was able to reduce the price, MS could just react after and keep that lead/difference.

PS4 has the early momentum and if they can have a good E3, I think with a price cut I don't think it will help the XBO that much, it still has it's known problems.. it's still a weaker console, its still a poor bit of design tech. It will probably stop a steeper decline though.

If sony can bring out TLOU next week, and the rumoured Uncharted 1,2,3 box set HD edition this year, they may convince many more last gen users to move over and thus keep the gap constant. I really think this one is Sony's to lose right now.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

I used to believe that a few months ago but not anymore. MS will have to settle with 2nd place in the US
