Forums - Sales Discussion - Will Mario Kart 8 be the biggest sales news of the year?

really people. Watch_Dogs is a pretty much Ubisoft's AAA cookie cutter formula. If it didn't sell at least 3.5 million, it would be the dawn of the downfall of Ubisoft.
MK8 on the other hand, is on the Wii U. Most people were not even close in predicting its first week sales.

an established IP versue a brand new one and it still end up selling less than it? and that was JUST the PS4 version? yeah ok i guess. MK8 did more for WI U than WD did for PS4 but thats the rub right there. PS4 was doing good anyway. Wii U not so much.

Remember the number of days they were for sale were not equal. WD figures represented 5 days whereas MK8 represented up to 3 days due to staggered launches. We will have a better idea in a few weeks time.

is two days difference really that huge? no not really, especially since MK is such a large franchise anyway

It's huge when it represents 40% of WD sales window.

Give it a month at least so that the difference in dates becomes negligable, and until January 2015 to get a truer picture.

My own personal opinion at this moment in time is that they appear to have done equally impressively, but for different reasons.

fair enough. But i dont need to wait till next year to get an picture. If Wii U drops back to close to what it was doing within a month that tells us all we nned to know

Watch Dogs has been more impressive on launch week. But Destiny might change that.

Really? Atleast some people on VGC predicted MK8 to sell over a million in its first week. MEanwhile everyone here underestimated WD sales in its first week by over 2 million units at least. Being a Ubisoft game is in no way a guarantee of success.
