Watch Dogs. It sold 4 million in a week!

Nah WD is more impressive it is a new IP and there is a chance PS4 WD sold through more than mk8's what looks like shipped units. MK8 came from a game that sold 33+ million units WD came from nothing. Also WD does not have japan but MK8 did have japan.

They both had great launches, but I think MK8 will continue to sell for a very long time, while WD will probably drop off pretty quickly.

Mario Kart numbers are decent for a normal game week 1. However, Mario Kart is not a normal game, I mean the damn game sold nearly 35 million copies on the Wii. The sales boost in the US is nice but the boost in Japan has to be considered disappointing.

Well, the odd thing here is that WD was released on the 27th and MK was released on the 30th (with the exception of France that I'm aware of). That is 4 days sales to 1 day sales respectively. Either way you look at it, both are impressive. The sad thing are the extremely mixed reviews for WD. I haven't played it yet and I still plan to wait a bit before I do. 

Thoughts?

Watch Dogs is a new IP Mario Kart is one of the most powerful IPs in the industry. That's like being impressed by CoD sales numbers.

Obviously Watch Dogs is more impressive.

Mario Kart 8 came out on the 29th of May in Japan, 30th in NA and 31 is Aus. Just looked it up. Where did you get "Mario Kart had 4 days in Japan" from?

I'd say Watch Dogs. Very impressive for a new IP on fairly new hardware.

Mario Kart 8 did good, no doubt. It definitely exceeded my expectations, which is impressive. But it's not that impressive.

I have to ask. What makes you think it's shipped units as opposed to sales since it directly said "sales" not shipped. This likely includes the digital sales as well. 

Uhhhg, comparing 33+ million units sold on the Wii? Well, first off that was lifetime sales of the game, not after a day. It's also crazy to compare the Wii to the Wii U since the Wii has sold over 100 million consoles as opposed to just over 6 million, of course the numbers on the Wii are going to be higher... 

Well if MK8 hade launched for PC people would have pirated the game and the WIi-U version would have sold less. Nut i don't think that was what you meant .
