This has happened for every COD game since Black Ops 1 in 2010; Sony and Microsoft versions are announced, no word on a Nintendo port.

Then, months later, a Wii/Wii U version is quietly disclosed, and nothing is shown of it until release.

The question is why. Shit's baffling.

Because they dont NEED to, your theory is silly especially since we KNOW that MS has exclusive advertising with Xbox, been like that for years. ITs still funny how some people hold on to their conspiracy theories. Wii U version accounts for less than 1% of overall sales, laughable. Why would they even waste time with that? Hell be happy its even coming at all, Wii U fans know it is they will buy it if they want to and judging by the sales they really dont want to.

exactly its really not baffling at all, the overwhelming majority of third party's are pulling there support from the wiiu, the reasonm why actiivsion didn't anounce COD ghosts right away cause they were not sure if making the wiiu version would worth it for them, but they decided to go ahead and still support it, just like ubi, now if advanced war get's anounced for wiiu at E3 then it would be baffling because right now they can say for sure where the wiiu stands and how there games sell on it and if they wanted to make advanced war for wiiu, it should been anounced along with the othere versions.

Hi Ninjablade.

You may change your name, but you can't hide your poor grammar or tired arguments.

Why do people always assume this franchise won't hit the Wii U? This is the second time people have assumed COD won't release on the Wii U for unknown reasons.

The more you release subsequent itterations of your franchise on a console, the more you grow its audience. Activision understands this. I can't figure out why nobody else can.

you mean like the COD audience grew on Wii? wait...

gonna have to disagree on the last part. I think Blops2 was announced at e3 since it was a launch game, but in the end it makes NO difference because MS got the advertisment on lock. And as long as that happens Wii U version will get less exposure. Im shocked PS version does as well as it does

Not just that but look at the advertising material in game stores/tv etc. Only Sony and Micrososft logos. Not to mention no Prestige Edition or other editions except for the standard on Wii U.

ive never seen Microsoft exclusive here. Just Sony and Micorsoft branded advertising everywhere.

The most logical reasons off the top of my head as to why Activision would ignore the WiiU version:

1. They want to increase the userbase of the Xbone and PS4 consoles more than the WiiU, since they sell more software there
2. They put a huge emphasis on DLC, something the WiiU versions of their games don't support. If they want to maximize their profits, they want people buying a console version other than the WiiU version

Those reasons sound somewhat plausible, but if true then Activision have no reason to blame Wii U on lacklustre sales of their games.

I feel that Activision want to avoid any association to their games and the Wii U since merely saying the word 'Wii U' brings up a lot of stigma from the minds of people (although that has died down somewhat in the last 5-ish months). I swear last year people would say 'ew, that game is on Wii U? Do not want' etc.

WiiU supports DLC. COD ghosts WiiU got the freefall map DLC. So the possibility of DLC is there, its just publisher who don't want to release it on WiiU.

Err... Remember... We're talking about the West here.

Only 4 Tales games were released in the West on Nintendo systems ever. Tales of Phantasia for the Super Nintendo (can't find any reliable numbers for this title), Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube (which still sold better on the Gamecube as opposed to the HD remake on the PS3. The PS2 version never made it out of Japan), Tales of The Abyss (which outsold the PS2 port, but mainly because this version was released outside of Japan as opposed to the original game) and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (which sold 200k in the US, but the PS3 version was never released outside of Japan).

Tales of Xillia still didn't outsell Tales of Symphonia, which was on the "flop" known as the Gamecube. There's overwhelming evidence that the Tales games do better on Nintendo systems in the West.

If this is about western releases, then your original post didn't make a ton of sense.  Of the last four Tales games to come out on Nintendo systems, two of them came to the west, including the most recent one.  That doesn't really fit with "Namco refuses to release this series on Nintendo systems".  That's a better ratio than the most recent four Tales game released on non-Nintendo systems (though apparently Xilia 2 and Hearts PSV were announced for the west in April which will put those ahead.)

I'm also not sure how that is overwhelming evidence.  Basically Symphonia did well 10 years ago.  Since then compared to the PS3 and 360 releases tales did worse in the west on the "massive hit" known as the Wii, and slightly better on the 3DS.  Although, the NPD numbers I can find are significantly different from the numbers VGC has, so this comparison might not even be useful.

The main thing they don't seem to like to do is release handheld games in the west.  Seems like so far only one GBA, one PSP and one 3DS game have gotten full western releases.  Also it doesn't look like any mobile games have made it over.  Really, other than Graces they seem to treat Nintendo releases the same as others in terms of whether it comes to the west or not.  I'd imagine that Vesperia PS3's success and Graces Wii's lack of it shifted their priorities from "let's release this in the west" to "let's release this on PS3".  If Dawn of the New World had performed like the first Symphonia in the west, I'd imagine their plans might have been different.

You seem pretty confused.

We're talking about Tales games releasing on Nintendo systems in the Western hemisphere. They sell very very well on Nintendo systems outside of Japan. Tales of Xillia only sold 250k in the US and 120k in Europe. Meanwhile, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World sold 200k in the US and 40k in Europe. In comparison to Xillia, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World sold very well. Tales of Graces sold similar numbers. There's no evidence here that shows Tales games *don't* sell well on Nintendo systems. So, the question here is... Why not release them on Nintendo systems?

RPGs tend to sell very well on Nintendo systems in general. There's overwhelming evidence to prove this.
