Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo never got the Game Boy Advance hardware quite right?

Sp 101 and DS lite are best IMO

I had them all and loved them in different ways. But my favorite is the Micro and that is the only one I still have. Just wish it had backwards compatbility with games and link cables. But oh well it had a nice customization option and a nice screen.

Can't we all just get along. If not for yourself, do it for the future.

I still have my launch glacier Gameboy Advance it yes, I can confirm that it's by far the best version. The only issue was the screen because it had no backlight. There use to be a company on the internet called afterburner who would install a light, but they've gone out of business.

Slight mistake there, ps2 is the best selling game machine of all time.

Armagedon!  Anyway.......it is the best selling game machine of all time, on the Handheld front.

Lack of a backlight with the original GBA annoyed me.

Looking at the GBA VC games now, I pity the artists who worked so hard on the games visuals when they ultimately were washed and glared out by the GBA's screen.

The hw was too weak for its time, shouldve been better. Also no backlit original gba was awful.

Did you purchase the rechargable battery pack for it or do you buy AA batteries?

I hated the GBA SP and SP2. The boxy design made playing games uncomfortable. The original Gameboy Advance though, despite not being backlit, was the most comfortable portable system I've used. Atleast from memory. You could use the Afterburner mod to get it front lit like the GBA SP, or you could use one of those lights that you purchase from the store, which there were some that worked well.

Nintendo eventually got it right. It was called the DS Lite.
