Forums - Politics Discussion - BREAKING NEWS: “Game Over” For Game Stop Gunmen

I don't get it...did the gunmen point their gun at the Texas dude or did the dude just freak out because he saw someone was carrying a gun? If it was the latter and the gunmen were just trying to make a quick getaway, and weren't going to waste their time shooting random people, then the Texas guy is a moron for escalating things. Should've called the cops and let them handle it.

yea, unfortunately the text is pretty unclear about how big the threatlevel was, so there is no good basis to form an opinion on the Texan guys reaction to the situation

You obviously don't know how the law works in the US, you are basing that off your country, hence your argument is invalid.

Oh, I know how it works. George Zimmerman case was publicized worldwide.

No, you really don't, or you wouldn't say I'm contridicting myself, not to mention that it's not even the same between States, we are a much bigger countrie with different rule sets across regions. We might share the same base language, but I assure you that you wouldn't know more about it than me when it comes to rules in my country.

My morals are absolute, if somebody decides to make an attempt on my life I will defend myself by non-lethal means, I will NOT however, EVER, take a life. If I did so I would be no better than the person attempting to take my own.

FALSE.

If someone had you at gunpoint, you are just going to try to talk your way out? Even if lets say you get his gun and he refuses to back down.

What are the basis of your morals?

You can capitalise the word all you want, but my morals aren't false and quite frankly for you to suggest so is both disrespectful and rude. If somebody had me at gunpoint, as I said above, I would try and defend myself by non-lethal means, whether that be running, tackling them, or talking my way out. I may not survive the situation, but just because somebody else is willing to do something bad doesn't mean I have the right to do that thing also.

My morals are based upon what I have learned throughout my life so far, and what I have been taught by my peers. I know that killing is wrong even if it means I risk death myself, just as theft is wrong even if it betters my own position in life. There is no point believing something if you lack conviction in that belief. My morals may seem extreme, but what is the point in following any moral code if you don't truly believe it?

Callum, you are perfectly correct, don't worry about them. They probably never heard that you can use an electrical taser, pepper spray or many other non-lethal weapons and object to defend yourself.

Using pepperspray against a gunman, or pulling out a taser is a good way to get shot...

I have this thing too, always prepared XD. http://www.amazon.com/Blast-Knuckle-Stun-Volts-Holster/dp/B008CH250Q

Ive had to cut down so many quote trees in this thread.

Keep them down to 3 quotes per tree people. Thanks.

So you say if i see someone hitt someone i should just whipe out my gun (if i had one) and shoot them dead, cause if i didn't i'd be deffending battery?

If some on hit you and then pulled out a gun yes.if not fight him.

I certainly believe you that you know your local laws better. If I ever decide to come to the US, I will contact you for a list of states in which I can be sure I don't get gunned down in front of a Gamestop by some idiot, so I can plan my itinerary.

Liquor store next to Gamestop? Might explain how I bought some of the games I own...

As a gun owner and former police officer of 8 years, I'm going shut the fuck up now and just read this thread. Cheers!

Better hope no one ever sees his concealed weapon, screams for there life and shoots him.

I am sure the armed robbers fired at him first, and he probably saw that they were robbing the joint.

Thank god for American Gun laws! I feel safer already. Especially living near Chicago.

@Callum

Even when they have a gun and fire on you? You should not shoot their brains out?

Yeah its great that every criminal can get a gun.  Feels so much safer than if it was only  the police who had them

Don't move into the ghetto or places with high unemployment rates and you'll be safe for the most part, those are the only researches you need to do. I recommend taking self defense lessons with a home defense purpose pistol and with a finger print gunsafe just so your kids can't get to them, also find out which States have "stand your ground" laws instead of "run out of your house" ones because the later one will really fuck you over in case shit happens. I personally run survelliance cameras on my property too even though I live in a very safe area just to scare assholes away. I don't ever take things for granted.
