Forums - General Discussion - Anyone know why general discussion threads do not show up on the front page?

Ioi got mad that one of the, i think wesslewoggle, sex threads kept appearing on the frontpage.. Made the site look "unproffesional" .. So he cut it off from appearing on the frontpage.. While we were the heart and soul of the site in those years.. People complain about the quality of the users?. Its because a lot of us in the off topic left.. It was the thing that kept the awesome users here,,

Also, I think this dates back to the days before Off Topic was split up into different subforums. Having threads about salad tossing on the front page doesn't do VGC any favors.

I think Hot topics should be banned altogether. It actually prevents the visibility of a lot of interesting threads.
Would be better if the people were actually forced to use the forum to see all the threads and not just a select few "controversial"post baiting threads.

If they really want to have threads on the main page it should be latest topics.

Hot topics is different than the front page.

Also this is an easy way for people to stay up with what is trending. There is always latest topics and my topics as well. In fact, I never even go into hot topics or on the front page. It is always Latest topics or my topics for me.

Hot topics in the forum is the exact same as the hot topics on the main page.

It's showing what's trending right now and not overall. That's because even a highly frequented Topic will vanish from the hot topics if no one posts for like an hour. It's just overall a bad system. Currently for every thread starter it's just luck if the thread will get a response or not.

This creates 1 post threads because they just had the bad luck to not be in the hot topics long enough for people to notice.

While the off-topic section may be unappealing to the average VGCHARTZ lurker, it makes no sense to remove the option to enable it for those who do want to see the section.
