Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Mages’ Xbox One Exclusives Cause Extremely Negative Reaction Among Japanese Viewers: 66.5% Displeased

I'm sure Japan has console wars too, only problem is it's less of a battle considering how few Xbox fans there are.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Just imagine Devil's Third getting announced as a X1 exclusive!

Well. X360 got a lot of otaku-style PC games - most fans of the platform in Japan are either in it for that, or they are westaboos, so the announcement isn't surprising. I assume the bad reaction comes from all the people who would like these games, don't care to get them on PC and have no intention of buying an X1.

X360 Japanese support was non-existent after the first three years. PS3 was the console of choice for otaku-style games, easily.

Really? For some reason I had the impression that it had a decent amount of visual novels, shmups and Idolm@ster throughout the gen. I'll take your word for it though.

You are correct. Mainstream exclusive support did dry up after 2009 (though mainstream multiplats did continue to release), but niche exclusives continued to release on 360 throughout the generation, both CAVE and 5pb. released several exclusives on the 360 in the last few years.

Compared with the PS3, the support was pretty much nonexistent. The Japanese market for the 360 was just miniscule.

Japan = Waste of time for MS.

This reaction was expected, I don't know why MS bothered to get this deal, it obviously didn't cost them much but still, a pointless effort

I kind of agree with this. I'm glad the Xbox One is going on sale in Japan (the more places available the better), but I don't see Microsoft working out some super amazing Japanese exclusives to cater to a general Japanese audience. This deal was just seemed like a small gimick to excite a new market.

Just wait till Microsoft drops a Japanese exclusive megaton at E3 or TGS. I've got my popcorn ready.

They tried that with the 360 and it failed.here will be no major Japanese exclusive for the 1 and it would fail ...again anyway.

They will probably lose money even trying to sell the xb1 in Japan due to localization and support/infrastructure investments needed for the launch/config.

Japan is largely done with home consoles and 40,000 yen is too much.

2,500 opening week Japan? 12,000 lifetime?

Not really. There's a reason 360 was considered the console for perverts in Japan. It was literally crowded with Visual Novels and shumps showing eroge.

There wasn't a big market there for 360, but it was neither minuscule. It was niche, but fanbases were there; hence why they kept producing japanese games throughout 360's lifespawn.

Heck, there's even an upcoming exclusive for 360 called Stranger in Alda: White Palace (Though there's a Vita game called Stranger in Alda: Black Palace coming as well), which is releasing this fifth of June. Do you honestly think they would release such a game, if there wasn't market for it there?
