I think he joined at 29, his first season he played most games but didn't score many. Van Persie is currently older than that, has had serveral injuries while at Man U this season and still has more goals this season than Shevchenko did in 3 years in the Prem.

29 almost 30, his birthday is in September. Age affects players differently (points to Pirlo). Shevchenko was never as good as he was in 200-2006 in Milan even after leaving the PL so it's questionable if he was any good when Chelsea signed him.

He was chosen by Abramovich, not coach. So...

And Falcao was in bad form at Monaco before joining MU.

There are moments when I wish Guardiola would just leave Bayern already..

That's why I said 'some'. Tell me, how has Falcoa done this season? What happened to Shevchenko? It is known that many footballers that do well in Europe struggle in the Prem, well sometime not struggle but get nowhere near the same performances. This said, I mainly want to see him in the Prem to see him in the Prem week in week out, I don't watch Spanish football. :P

No, it is not a well known fact. It's what some Premier League fans want to believe. And that's what I meant by cherry picking a few, but you even did the cherry picking horribly. Falcao came off a major injury and after that he was not the same even before Manchester. Shevchenko was way past his prime. You should have listed Soldado (a popular choice for people who claim scoring in the prem is harder) for example.

Gareth Bale too. Oh wait..

Real Madrid have one philosophy, get the ball and pass it to Ronaldo. Great players like Benzema and Di Maria were eclipsed by the way Real plays.

Bale is just another one serving Ronaldo.

What did you guys did to two of my favorite ex-Porto players. I read that someone that was from MC, said that they were the worst signing of EPL. I'm talking about Fernado and Mangala.

They probably were the worst signings of the season. It does take players a year to adjust at times so hopefully they can improve next year. But the real problem is how ridiculously expensive they were. Wasn't Mangala 40 million pounds? No way was he worth that with the performances he's put in. Gotta give credit to Porto though, they really know how to get as much money as possible when selling a player.

Mangala was our most promising player. You're talking about a club that has an excellent track record of producing Center Backs.

Fernando Couto, Ricardo Carvalho, Pepe, Otamendi, etc...

This happens to every hyped expensive signing from Portuguese clubs.

Cristiano Ronaldo was expensive back then. So was Ricardo Carvalho, Mourinho was bought for an incredible 5 million euros... unheard of for a coach back then.

All hyped and expensive.

If Porto could buy them back man...

Don't put Mourinho here, I didn't mean it with managers. And then again, obviously it's not going to be like that for EVERY signing, but it is for most of them, especially in the last 5 years or so. Seems like anyone who comes from the Portuguese league costs dozens of millions of pounds just because they played one good season in a comparatively weak league.

The only EPL team that I consider stronger than Porto and Benfica is Chelsea.

The rest are overhyped oil money sinkhole groups, not even teams.

Portuguese league has produced so many world class players that it deserves to be at wherever status they're at.
