It's always quite interesting how quickly a club can go to shit. Just 8 years ago FC Twente won their first ever Eredivisie title, and 48 hours from now they could have been relegated.

Well that's football after all the are a number of examples of such situations as extraordinary as they are, Leeds are one team who comes to mind.

So now Infantino wants Qatar to be the first 48 team World Cup.

I have not watch a single game for Bayern this entire season. I don't even know what their starting lineup looks like.

so the final sales phase for the world cup launched today. I managed to get myself tickets for 3 more matches.

mexico vs germany in the national stadium moscow,
portugal vs morocco in the national stadium,
argentina vs croatia in nizhny novgorod.

add them to the tickets i already have,
morocco vs iran st petersburg,
poland vs senegal in spartaks stadium moscow.

The only match i was looking for that i haven't gotten is argentina vs iceland which is in spartaks stadium in moscow. That match is the most demanded one in the entire tournament, even higher then the final, although if final tickets were not so expensive that probably wouldn't be the case. I could of actually bought cat 2 final tickets for 700usd if i wanted. had them in my basket but dropped them as i will be gone home by then. crazy to think i could of gotten tickets to the final if i cared.

Anyway i've not got arg vs iceland but it's probably for the best as were already going to enough matches now and would rather have spare days for sightseeing.

That's coming from him? I heard that CONMEBOL were the ones asking FIFA to expand it early in 2022.

Can't wait to watch Bolivia vs. Trinidad & Tobago at the World Cup!!

Didn't the latter beat USA to deny them qualifying this year?

Beating USA is supposed to be a big deal?

They at times can be solid, the last few WCs they've been a tricky fixture for the teams they faces which include two clashes with Germany who got far in all of them.

Well yeah, but "last few WCs" means at least 4 years ago.

Edit: to make my point clearer, think Argentina. They were 2nd place at the last WC, does that make them favorites for this year's tourney? I guess to some people yeah, but I sure don't think so. A lot has changed, and Argentina right now is complete crap.

Germany were crap before the 2002 WC started and they went all the way to the final so to write any big team off is jumping the gun.

There used to be another football thread, this one turned into the default one in Brazil 2014

Maybe another one can start with Russia 2018?

I get so overwhelmed just seeing how many groups there are.

heh, it goes all the way up to group P

It still seems silly to me how few teams go out at the group stage. Only one from each group, and no doubt it will be seeded as well so the bottom team will be countries like Tahiti. Makes you wonder if it's even worth having the group stage anymore.

Honestly if they were going to expand they might as well have 64 teams and just a knockout tournament from the beginning. That way the World Cup would actually have they same amount of games as it does now. Just like the Euros I don't like the idea of only 1/3 of teams going out in the first round.
