I don't think we are going to qualify for the World CUp, but I still wish we get 3 points today.

Good posts by The Fury.

I don't think Arsenal have gotten worse and worse with each season. After the first two signings I was hopeful because they only needed a couple more defensive players, sell Alexis and get a replacement, sort out whatever is wrong with the team spirit and top4 or even a title challenge would have been very much possible. Yes it's a lot to improve but doable. But the problem is Kroenke doesn't care and Wenger seems too stubborn and old-fashioned now. I get what kind of football he wants to play and I like his vision but he doesn't have the players he needs.

I'm not expecting much of this season but we'll see. Tottenham has a Webley curse to deal with, Klopp will kill his players with his tactics, Chelsea had a bad transfer window too and their game does not look good atm and Pep is Pep, a bit naive with the way he plays. ManU looks strong and seems like they sorted out their scoring issues.

I was hoping they would make the World Cup. The 1994 team is one of my favourites.

This century?

I wouldn't bet on that one, but England will win the World Cup.

Arsenal are hardly a sinking ship and people need to get over that fact. They made some good purchases at the start of the season, one being a good striker who shows excellent potential in the prem but no, lose to Liverpool and "Arsenal are dead boys".

...no. Arsenal has been getting worse and worse with each passing season, culminating with them finally missing out on UCL this season. They've been selling more good players than buying, and their Premier League start has been atrocious with not only the 4-0 defeat at Liverpool, but also defeated by Stoke and having barely scraped a win against Leicester at home. That, and they have unhappy players like Sanchez, or players like Ozil who honestly just don't look like they give a crap when they're playing. Wenger has no idea what he's doing anymore and the longer he stays, the more comfortable he'll be with his failures, and the more the players won't be motivated on the field.

I mean, yeah sure this is just the first time they didn't qualify for UCL, say it's a "hiccup". But do you see that changing anytime soon? Do you really see them finishing top 4 this season? I don't think so... it's clear they're leagues behind Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and both Manchester clubs at the moment, I think even if they finish 5th they would be overperforming.

I always feel that Arsenal is on the prescipice of success but Wenger isn't the kind of manager (anymore) to rouse the spirits of his players and motivate them to die for the club. Which is the complete antithesis of Simeone who time and time again pushes his teams to go above and beyond for the club, while for Arsenal a last ditch surge to top 4 is enough to appease the board's monetary ambitions. And Wenger has been riding on the coattails on those expectations.

I think no one can say arsenal have a bad team. It has the potential to be top four at least on paper or based on their talent. But what pisses of people, and I guess Sánchez too, is that while having money and all they are not willing to take the step to compete with big clubs.

I also feel some players just don't care, Ozil comes to mind, since there is no competition and everyone is winning big money. If Ozil plays crap or goes ghost mode like he usually does, he still gets to play. You have plenty if average players making a ton of money and in no need to up the gear.

Then you have humilliations like both 6-1 Bayern gave them.

So being top 4 and winning an ocassional national cup means you're a good team, problem is I don't think top players will be happy with just being top 4 to go to CL to get trashed. Hell, I remember Dani Alves after they beat them, saying that they were hoping to get arsenal in the first place, since they knew they played pretty football but they knew it was an obvious win

So Mexico and Japan were the two teams to qualify during this match cycle. We have 5 teams qualified and 27 teams left.
