Forums - Gaming Discussion - LG G3 reveal next Tuesday

Anyone else following the LG G3?

I've been sizing up the Android flagship phones lately, and I'm kind of intrigued by the G3.  This has to be one of the most leaked phones, so a lot of details are already known but I'm waiting to see if there are any surprises.

Interesting things:

QHD 2560x1440 resolution (why, just why?)
- Huge 5.5" screen, but supposedly has about the same dimensions as the HTC One M8 with 5.0" screen.
- Looks to have a brushed metal look similar to the premium HTC One M8, but with a removable cover so it may be plastic with metallic look.  On the plus side that means removable battery and expandable storage.
- Laser focus camera. (Everything's better with fri'kin layzers?)
- Looks like it may have a Snapdragon 801 processor, which is a little disappointing as it's the same as S5/M8 which don't have to drive a 2560x1440 screen.

I had the LG G2 for a long while and it was easily the best smart phone I've used. Incredibly powerful, the knock-on feature was actually pretty useful, camera was amazing and the UI was lightning fast. It feels strange adjusting to such a big screen but after a while, it feels even stranger without.

I'm interested about it as I'm a more than satisfied owner and daily user of lg optimus g.The ergonomic and clean user interface, the bigger battery, the great specs and quality of build made me an lg mobile fan.The only aspect that they lack so far is getting the latest android updates on time so I hope that's a thing they work on Lg g3.

I don't know much about the Optimus G but G2 was horrible in user interface. It was such a mess its mindblowing. They were criticized a lot about it and hopefully they are working on that. Otherwise it is a great phone though, the battery life is amazing.

I've never used a g2 so I can't comment on it's interface but optimus g was pretty good for me at least. The only downside is the lack of actual android updates and the apps working in the background whether you want it or not.Specs wise g2 is a great phone I agree but for me it's pretty imprortant that it didn't come at a 32 gb version where I live.

I have a Nexus 5 which is made by LG but obviously doesn't have LG's UI. How does it compare to others in speed and features?

Of the UI's I've seen (but not really used), the TouchWiz looks colorful and kitchen sink on the S5. The HTC UI looks fast, but I didn't really like the look personally.

Cause who cares about battery life these days?

                                                                                                               You're Gonna Carry That Weight.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

we need these resolutions for better VR headsets (even 4k or 8k might make sense for them)

sure those displays are pretty much wasted on smartphones because you hardly can see any difference to 1080p for example, but they are the easiest way to make them affordable so we can have affordable high res VR headsets

I've never used LG phones before. I've heard they are quite impressive though. Their new high end TVs look amazing though and much more impressive than Samsung or Sony TVs.

Nexus 5 is significantly faster than all of them and more stable. Though One M8 is pretty much identical speedwise, it has a bit faster SOC though. Touchwiz is colorful but it is unbearably slow and bad looking when you go deeper.
