I'm very hyped for it, it looks like it'll be awesome.

Maybe in place of barbarians we will have Alien :D

That would be awesome!

It is a new game but it is using the same engine as Civ5.

Oh my mistake. This is why I shouldn't go on VGChartz when I'm tired

Civ is awesome, and I'm sure this one will be just as great as the others, if not better.

I won't be able to play it with my lappie 486, but for my next laptop purchase I will definately be making sure I can play this properly. (current laptop can play Civ 5 but on the giant earth map it won't load my saves after a while, I think it might be when I go over ~150 cities)

It uses the same engine as Civ5 so specs requirements should be similar.

I hope to have this

By the time the game is released.

It is actually weaker than my laptop now but I want the 1080p screen and it will be powerful enough to run this at 1080p :)    With my current laptop I bought more power than I needed. I rarely play anything outside of strategey games and indies on PC lol

Oh well that's good, but I would still like to be able to finish a game where I populate the whole map without it going wrong (currently using integrated intel HD4000 for graphics, but it may have been a lack of CPU power causing my problem)

Intel HD 4000 should be ample to run it on low/medium settings. I know I accidentally run it with my Intel GPU wiih everything maxed out (at 1366x768) and it is playable.

Indeed it does run fine until I get too ambitious, the giant Earth map pack did mention in it that you need at least a 4-core CPU though, which I do have (i5-3210M) but it definitely slows down when I start getting over 100 cities*. At some point after that if I save and close the game, I won't be able to reload from that save, It will just hang and then crash. It's probably just the CPU or RAM that can't cope with all the data.

*probably not purely related to the number of my cities but the entire ecosystem inc. CPU cities and all the units.

Having said that though I will be looking at getting a dedicated GPU in my next laptop, but at least I know I won'r require it for Civ.

I can not imagine an i5 and Intel HD 4000 struggling that much. But I do not like playing on the larger maps. I like about 8 civs

Idk if you care about a 1080p screen as much as I do (if you do not want 1080p then the laptop is a bit pricey) but that one I linked earlier can do this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we7_NcPyzNY

That is plenty more power than I need for my laptop. I just want to be able to play any strategy game or indie at 1080p and it should be able to accomplish that

You are not alone in the excitement that is Civ. I can't wait and as a result, my purchase of a PS4 will have to wait even further. Arkham Knight does come out 2015 after all. I've had a PS3 since 2009 and bought Civ5 when it came out in 2010. I can honestly say that I've played Civ5 LONGER than EVERY PS3 game I've owned COMBINED so far. That's 17 different PS3 games since 2009.

I really can't wait.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Most of my time on Civ 5 (~400 out of 500 hours play) has been spent on either the huge Earth map (the one that comes with the game) or on the giant Earth map by gedemon (which I think has 50-60% longer dimensions, so is probably about twice as large as the "huge" size maps) because I wanted the civilisations to start in the right place.

This is the one:

Edit: actually that doesn't look quite right, there is definitely a Hawaiian island missing, it might be a slightly modified one.

That is awesome! But I do not like my games to last for ages lol. I play mostly Hotseat with my GF
