Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Ubisoft done with supporting Wii U?

So, Farcry 4 was just announced and there will be a ps3/360 version yet Ubisoft is skipping Wii U.

And now they have announced the systems that the next Assassin's Creed games will be coming to and Wii U is also getting skipped.

A recent interview with Ubisoft mentions that online free roam will be a next gen (PS4/XBO) exclusive feature and also mentioned that online play was coming to all versions that were going to be released "soon". From the wording it seems online play will be skipping Wii U, though it may still get it. I honestly have doubts they will put a great effort into the Wii U version.

Is this a sign that Ubisoft has given up on Wii U? I think it may be. Sales of their games haven't exactly been good on Nintendo's latest console and maybe they realized they either have to try something different or just cut support for the system.

For me this is a sad moment, Ubisoft has done very well utilizing the gamepad in their games. I have purchased just about every Ubisoft game available for Wii U and have been very satisfied with my purchases. I would have like to see the next Assassin's Creed on Wii U also, it's a shame.

Do you own a Wii U? What are your thoughts on this?

If it's not on the shelf, it's not on the shelf. Love my Wii U. Rayman Legends was awesome, as were the AC games on the Wii U, but thats about it. If I want another one of their games, I 1.) might be turned off because of their treatement of customers or 2.) I'll buy it on the steam box. No biggy. But More than likely they just lost a customer or 10.

It was only a matter of time.

I kind of feel the same way, I own an XBO/PS4 also so I can play them if I really wanted to. But I think I will be bargain binning their games from now on. I will make sure to buy all Ubisoft games used from now on. Watch Dogs may be the last Ubisoft  game I purchase at full price.

That it hasn't been announced means nothing. For instance, Splinter Cell: Blacklist was announced at E3 2012. It was only confirmed for Wii U in April 2013. It's actually a common pattern from developers. Sometimes, it might be because of Nintendo (for instance, there have been times when Nintendo themselves announced a game as coming to their system), and other times, it just becomes obvious that Wii U is an afterthought, there only to mollify investors.

Not only Ubisoft.

The link shows a release date of november 21 this year. At this point I think they would have announced a Wii U version if there was one. I'm almost positive that Farcry 4 will skip Wii U but Assassin's Creed may still be up in the air.

Ativision is the only one left then?

You'll still see Just Dance and a Rayman sequel if one is made (doubtful since Legends flopped). But I guess that's about it. I would have liked to see more Assassin's Creed and I hope Watch Dogs doesn't get cancelled.

I can't fault them too much. They did make two of the best Wii U games: ZombiU and Rayman Legends.
