If you're using Chrome or Firefox, I recommend downloading Hitman Pro from http://www.surfright.nl, running it with the one-time license and then seeing what it finds. If nothing, then no worries, but I'm guessing your malware software isn't doing the trick for you.

Yep, on my phone I've had a couple. On my laptop I've merely got adblock, though.

Shame to hear it's the same for others as well.

The website is the worst I have ever been on for adverts. They are terrible. I remember one time that an advert would try and infect your computer. It was always when you clicked onto the front page. I had to stay in the forum sections to not have this advert give me a virus.


Back when I first started to explore the internet (1998ish), the internet was a beautiful place. Most websites had only a banner, or nothing at all as far as ads are concerned. When you'd go to make an account, there were no restrictions on what your password could be. I once used the password AAA lol. Most websites didn't require an email to join. There was NO such thing as Captcha and nobody even dared think about requiring a phone number. There were no data limits either.

It really was like the wild west. Totally free (you could even get the internet for free lol).

I'm using Safari on OS X with Ad Block Plus and get ZERO ads...zero.

And I'm referring to those using Windows.

Last I knew, VGChartz doesn't use pop-under advertising.

I use Adblock so I never have any problems on this site but when I didn't use it, I remember the ads being just the type where I imagine evil stuff would linger. Looks like I won't be disabling Adblock on this site any time soon.

Exactly.  For a long time, I endured the unforgivably long loading times because I didn't want to deny VGC income, but when it had unstoppable looping audio ads I drew the line.  (Pop-ups weren't as much of a problem for me IIRC.) 

This site is very aware that its ads have problems as there have been countless threads made on the subject, and claims that it will improve have obviously not been kept.
