@Shadow1980 I think you mean "distant THIRD", after Sony and Nintendo.

The XB1 will eventually overtake the Wii U, putting it in distant second.

NOw why would that be? As I see it there is no reason to buy an x1 since almost ll its games can be played on the ps4, better and for the same price. While the Wii U Has its own games that cannot be played aywhere else, a cheeper price and it can be a secondary console if you wish for since most of its games are exclusives and free online. I see no reason the x1 to outsell the Wii U and if you haved keeped track, the Wii U has been beating the x1 all over the world except in the US so the is no way the US alone can give it enough of a boost.

Sorry, but at this point, that is just wishful thinking, with no basis in facts.

It's not wishful thinking, I actually don't care about who winds up where.  I intend to eventually own all three (XB1 the only one I don't currently have) anyway.  I say the XB1 will eventually overtake the Wii U for two reasons.  First, the debacle that is the marketing structure that put the Wii U where it currently is.  Second, the exclusive content on the XB1 - halo, gears of war, new ips, etc - will, in my opinion, be enough for it to overtake the Wii U.  I could even throw in a third here, I think the Wii U will have a much shorter shelf life than the other two systems, meaning it won't have as much time to sell, and will go to third place.

All I see is some speculation.  Come back when you have facts, numbers, or some kind of trend proving your point.

You are right all you see is speculation.  That's what it is.  You want facts, go read a spreadsheet.

no spreadsheet in existance shows proof of what you are claiming.  I'm done with this thread.

Cool, thanks for stopping by and asking for facts to back admitted speculation.

In the US the system with the best games or price will win.

WiiU ?

Hey, thanks for the graph!  And yeah, I know the XBO is outselling the WiiU currently, but they have yet to surpass them in total units sold.  You also have some VERY compelling (some would say "system selling") titles coming from Nintendo this year.  I don't know how it will play out the rest of the year, but I wouldn't count Nintendo out just yet...

In the U.S. the XBO has as of this past March already surpassed the Wii U in LTD sales and has placed second every month this year. However, the XBO is still trailing slightly behind the Wii U in Europe in YTD sales. Sales in Europe are likely to continue being weak even after it launches in the "Tier 2" countries, and it's going to flop in Japan. However, I think the XBO will do well enough in the U.S. to where the global tally will exceed that of the Wii U. I doubt the XBO will sell less than 30 million lifetime, whereas the Wii U will be lucky to surpass the GameCube at this point. The XBO will get sufficient software support to keep sales steady throughout the generation, whereas the Wii U will likely have weak legs just like the Wii did. I think a conservative estimate for the Wii U will be about 8 million in North America and 5 million each in Europe and Japan. Meanwhile, I think the XBO will sell around 25M in NA, 7.5-10M in Europe, and 1M in Japan. MS is going to lose a ton of market share, no doubt, but Nintendo is almost certain to have lost even more. The PS4 will have a commanding majority of global sales. Here's what I think is a plausible end-generation scenario:

Do you honestly see it that way? You do know That the one with the more unique and diverse exclusive software planed for this year and the next. The x1 might have a lot of third party suport but multyplats seem to only boost ps4 sales. The thing is that the x1 is in direct competition with the ps4 and loosing. At some point all the loyalist will have bought a x1 and that will be it for the console while nintendo can slowly imprese with brand new games and continued their franchises that keep bringing in people. Even if it is as a secondary console the Wii U will sell but the x1 cannot be a secondary console to a ps4 because it has the weakest first party and multyplats are inferior to the ps4 while the Wii U has a massively diferent expirience than both.

Ass you have said in europe and japan and pretty much all over the world the x1 will never cach on and will be to far behind to actually impact the market. But you seem to keep a delusion that the US althou is the biggest market, that it can really upset the global score in the x1's favor. The market has expanded year after year and now mooving to china where is meant to be 4 times bigger than the US and the Wii U is consider to be the best fit for the chinese market.

And you really think the US will still have the xbox on a pedestal just cuz is american? Get over it. The x1 wont reach 15m in the US. They are not biased in any way and sales dictate that. Everyone knows that the ps4 is far supirior and has a better library of games to come.
