Sony already isn't an issue to Microsoft, and they sure ad hell didn't drop the Zune because it was successful.
Consoles are worthless to Microsoft. Mobile and cloud services are infinitely more important to them now. Irrelevance is not even a strong enough term for anything anyone does with consoles compared to their epic showdown with Apple and Google.
