Global = PS4
USA + the UK of GB and NI = PS4

Thats how I see it. As time goes on momentum will keep swinging the PS4s way.

I also have a feeling that the Kinectless bundle might come across as the "arcade edition". sales split will probably be 60-40 between sku versions.

I was also wondering about this? If you guys remember when PS3 had the $600 and $500 models, the $600 model was so much more popular than the $500 model that they phased it out. Though I know there were a lot more differences between those models than the Xbox with only kinect being the difference. Maybe if they increase the hard drive in the kinect model to 1TB and leave the kinectless one at 500GB we'd see if it had the same effect as the ps3 models?

PS4. The Xbox One already has a price drop in the UK and in the US it could have been purchased for $450 with Titanfall and Forza 5 literally everywhere for around a month. The Kinectless SKU might push some more consoles, but overall I don't think it'll make much of a dent.

I imagine that the near future will follow this pattern:

  • Until Price Drop - Xbone steadily loses sales as people wait for new sku, PS4 gains grounds in late May with Wolfenstein and Watch Dogs
  • June to July - Xbone surges ahead especially in North America, where it dominates the 8th gen console market. People forget about the last year or so of bad Xbone press if Microsoft has a good enough E3 or if Sony has a bad one.
  • Rest of Summer - The two consoles are neck and neck, thanks to a lack of major new 8th gen exclusives.
  • Latter 2014 - Microsoft's big bucks and exclusives pay off, as North America buys a shit-load of Xbones in Q4. Games like Sunset Overdrive, Halo, Spark, etc out-rate and perform the PS4's exclusives like The Order: 1886. Meanwhile, the launch of the Xbone in Tier 2 countries and China gives at least a temporary boost. Thus, even though the PS4 dominates more of 2014, the two consoles end the year with similar amounts of hardware sold.
  • 2015 and Beyond - Depends on a bunch of things, like the E3 in a month, whether the Wii U and non-gaming devices steal casual sales, how consoles are received in China, etc. However, neither console will ever gain more than, say, 60% of the market, with the two competitors at worst sharing the remaining 40%.

In short, hard to say either way. I'd say the Xbone might sell better lifetime due to: Japanese support, a PlayStation staple, declining and moving to handhelds; the Xbone's reach into China; having a better known online network; and stuff like Call of Duty exclusive content.

Xbox 1 = leader of English speaking world.

Fine by me, since I as well as 99% of people who post here, apply to this :)

It's not though. It's about 600k behind in the 'English speaking world'.

Maybe you should change the definition of what you're happy with. Seen as it's as arbitrary as the official language people speak and doesn't need to conform to current numbers, why not countries that export potatoes? Or countries that have a bobsled team?

Hardware is still better on PS4, games are the same quality in both. I'll go with a tie in USA.

PS4 will most likely still win the gen due to having the better version of multiplats, but the sales will definitely be close in the US from here on out.

It all comes down to the games and personally, I'm more intrigued with Sony's line up right now.

Well I don't think it will mean a damn thing now

PS4 will still do better even in NA and UK.

I think it'll be close in the US/UK, but I highly doubt Xbone will dominate the US/UK.

Pretty much everywhere else PS4 will dominate the Xbone. So overall, PS4 will win worldwide, but at least now MS won't be left in the best in every region.

It will turn into ps3/Xbox 360 all over again starting from ps3 outselling 360 by a small margin.

Xbox One= will win in US/UK
PS4= elsewhere with a WW win.
