So do people believe that this move will propel the Xstation ahead of the PS4?

Will be interesting to see how this affects sales. I dont think it will have that much of an impact because like many people have said. You could get a xbone with kinect and titanfall for the same or just slightly above the PS4s price at most places.

Of course it wont! They may be the same price but PS4 still has the advantage with it's superior hardware.

However I believe this move will be more impactful than the $450 deals since while it may not be as good value-wise, the entry cost of $400 is lower than it's ever been, and because all retailers will be going by this price which'll surely be advertised heavily.

Tier 2 and 3 territories must be even more pissed now

Damn didn't even think about that. It's the whole reason they were delayed in the first place. But the plus side is that they aren't the earliest beta testers. Games and updates should be great by September

Finally MS realizes they need price and online system parity with Sony if they truly want to compete.

Smart move. Should have done this at launch when they changed all the other stuff. But better now than later. Also leaves E3 to focus on games and not as much about this news.

This will most likely help quite a bit, but, IMO, it's still $50 too much.

Yeah this. I really think as people know the XBO is not as powerful, I think it has to be £50 cheaper to make a big difference.

Seriously? Anybody that thinks it needs to be £50 cheaper than the PS4 obviously doesn't know how small the power difference is.

It's a great console with great games and plenty more coming. Worth every penny!

It was the same price with a free game and it sold less (USA).. and as far as we know only just sold slighty more than PS4 in the UK. So i guess it depends on your point of view, but it seems the power difference and other things have made it still less appealing than the PS4 at the same price.

If they want to sell more than their competitor on a regular basis they will need to reduce the price further. Though as someone else has already said, I can understand why they might leave it until end of the year to do so at the earliest.

*shrugs* Personally i believe a 50% higher GPU peak, considerable faster RAM and being more geared towards GPGPU is a fair amount more than "slight".

But hey ho, whatever rocks your boat ^^

As much as I love throwing out numbers let's see those numbers translate to actual graphic capability. If resolution continues to be the only advantage of 50% higher GPU peak and GDDR5 RAM then meh.

The 3rd party resolution difference should disappear (or at the very least decrease) over time. That has mostly been caused by developers struggling with the esram rather than the actual power difference of the two.

Like with the PS3 and 360, developers have no incentive to push their games further than what the weaker can produce. They don't gain anything from proving better assets to one simply because it's stronger. PC ports may be an exception on occasion, but i imagine most developers will choose better stability over increased assets (such as TR). In that sense you could say the X1 is the PS4's bottle neck

As with the PS3, it's their 1st party that will utilize that extra strength the most over the years. For now i don't expect we will see any huge difference (neither are close to being maxed out), but as the years go by the difference will become more prominent. More so than with the PS3 that's for sure.

Personally i'm looking forward to seeing what developers like ND and SSM can do with the GPGPU capabilities in a few years :D That stuff is really cool.

resolution and framerate is the one thing you can put the extra power of ps4 to use without adding any extra development time.  if anything i think the resolution differences are going to get worse as developers try to push the limits of the hardware instead of these cross gen titles.

Good moves but it does feel like a 180 on all the policies they announced last year. Mabye they can win a few months in the US now,

Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move,  and Kinect.

399 Euros in Europe won't help. The Titanfall bundle with Kinect is already available for 429 Euros in stores.

Good, this needed to happen.

And all those who defended Microsoft for including Kinect as mandatory. I wonder where then stand now...?

Same place as those who defended Sony taking out rumble only to have it brought back in?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

With the software thats coming, MS will have a strong chance of taking back NA. Or at least coming close. The race if far from over.
