Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox ONE $399 (Kinectless) GOLD services confirmed Lots of info inside.

I wonder why they would announce this now if it doesn't start happening until June 9th? This will slaughter their May sales for anyone knowledgeable and interested in the console.

Yeah.. This is exactly not what I wanted. It's irritating to see Microsoft giving up on Kinect. I guess they don't really believe in themselves now. -.-

lol really. Listening to their customer is always good news. More choice is always good news. Not like they are discontinuing the kinect sku.

In my opinion Microsoft should've listened earlier then. I'm pretty sure they could know beforehand that a lot of people wouldn't prefer a forced Kinect a which means a bigger price tag, but whatever. They did what they did and there's nothing to do about that.

I honestly don't see much value for a 399 Xbox One without Kinect when Titanfall bundle with Kinect is currently $499.

Otherwise glad to hear about Xbox Live changes.

The good thing is when there are future discounts/price cuts... I'm still not getting this one at 400 but once it's available at 350 or 300 i might get it. Seeing a XB1 with kinect at that price would probably take a long time, not so with a kinectless bundle.

Yeah true if all you want is access to games this is great news as price of entry is undoubtedly going to be lower.

Myself I am as much interested in media features, HDMI in and Kinect as I am in X1 games, if not more so.

Nice, should increase the baseline by quite a bit and holiday is going to be that much bigger.

Not entirely sure yet, but I might be getting one without Kinect then. Afterall it's possible to buy Kinect later on, so I might get one under 100€. (bought Kinect for 360 for 80€).

Games for Gold, Gold paywall removed on key apps, and kinectless Xbox (price cut).

All major cons are officially taken care of! All "critics" have left to say is that it is slightly weaker but at this stage in graphics, it isn't even noticeable.

Graphical difference is plenty noticeable and it's still lacking exclusives; only KSR in 2014 so far.

surprised they did this so quickly, thought it would take another year or so, but if it's going to happen it's better to do it sooner rather than later. Sucks for early adopters but that's always the case with price cuts, you should know what you're getting into if you buy a console on launch or shortly after.

Sorry? Doesn't suck for me, I like Kinect (so do many others) and would still buy the sku with the kinect. Don't let the people raging on about wanting a kinectless sku  cloud the overall opinion of it.

I dont even know anymore what is up with microsoft, they pinned the kinect as the best thing in the world and now they're giving up on it, are they a business or a neogaf member

They can do whatever they want and people will complain. Tell people that Kinect is essential  for their philosophy of Xbox One and everyone complains that they want an Xbox One like they want and not like Microsoft wants. Tell people that they sell it now without Kinect even if they will have to change their philosophy because all these people complained about it and people start to complain that Microsoft changes their philosophy.

Microsoft can do only wrong hey!

People should also not forget that they have a new guy on top of Xbox. Just because the last guy decided that Xbox One will be never without Kinect (and all other guys said obviously the same then) doesn't mean that the new guy has to work exactly like the last guy. If that would be the case, companies would never have to change their managers...

on topic:

I will still buy Xbox One with Kinect since I see absolutely the value of 100 bucks  but I think they should try to sell it for 350/450 if possible. Xbox One without Kinect is pretty much just another console and then you look at the potential for games and PS4 has simply a little bit more power for games.
