Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario Kart 8 US TV Commercials (Update with 2 New Commercials)

A 30 second commercial, geez. A minute long commercial would of been great. Not to short, not to long.

Around the Network

At least they're headed in the right direction from some of those annoying commercials from this past Christmas.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Love the ad, much better than any other ad I've seen for a Wii U game.

Hopefully Nintendo will put this everywhere on TV, so much so that I will see it despite watching hardly any TV outside of Football season or the Olympics.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

It was ok had sort of a 90s Saturday morning TV commercial vibe about it. Nothing too terrible, nothing too great ... which for a Nintendo commercial usually is a success.

It does remind me of commercials I used to see when I was younger in late 90s early 00s.

Not bad, so good by Ninty marketing terms. It illustrates why this Mario Kart is new and exciting and names the Wii U. The live action was not to my liking, but those sorts of teasers help people wonder what the commercial will be about, and draw the audience in, so it's not that bad.

This should be the first of a trilogy of MK8 commercials starring that live action guy, each aired for a couple of weeks at least. That creates a sense of importance in the minds of some kids (me circa 1999).

Love and tolerate.

It clearly is only targeting kids.

I find this commercial more neutral than anything.

Now MK7's commercial was 100% aimed at kids.

I would hope that a year long marketing plan  /= 1 US commercial. ;p

30 seconds is how long most American commercials are. And honestly, Nintendo ought to be able to summarize Mario Kart 8 and why you should buy it in as little as 15 seconds, let alone 30.

"Mario Kart. Weird gravity things. Only on Wii U."

There, I made the dialogue for a 6 second commercial.

Love and tolerate.

I'm just glad they've actually started advertising.
One of modern Nintendo's biggest weaknesses is not making non-fans aware of the existence of their games.

Not bad. A good start.

Great commercial, definitely need to put them on every network possible
