They force you to keep paying for a game which you want to play. When a miracle happens and a decent game shows up on IGC, you are forced to pay 5€/month for as long as you want to play the game.

Let's say that there is a good game which you haven't already bought on a steam sale  on IGC once a year. In only 2 years, you have paid 120€ just to play those 2 games. In  3 years, it is 180€ and maybe 3 good games. If you are lucky.

You want that game go and buy it, from a store. Support the store and the developer. Don't pay for online gameplay on PS4 if you don't want it.

PS+ has never lied about it's stipulations and (before PS4) it was optional. You want to play the games, pay, you don't want to play them, don't pay. It's optional on PS4 but payment is needed for online gameplay. It's not forcing you to play the games. It's not hiding other services which you've already paid for behind it.

And what is IGC?

IGC is the instant game collection of PS+.

His allegation only very few "good games" ("maybe 3 good games in 3 years") would show up there is so funny it's almost sad. Just last year I got more than 20 very good games through the IGC and it doesn't seem to be slowing down for me :).

So basically you are agreeing with me by moving the goalposts. Thanks.

Er... what? Fine how is this? if you don't want to play the game, don't play it. Keep paying for PS+/Xbox Live Gold, whatever, all you want, let the console sit in a corner gathering dust for all I care. But you keep paying your subscription fee for minimal services just so you keep your precious rental game you can buy for £5 on ebay.

Xbox Gold could give you a benefit of an extra game you didn't ask for out of the kindness of their hearts, something extra from your subscription service and you shun it for being like PS+.

Hmm, pie.

Hopefully they WILL actually remove this useless paywall, and instead, give us free acess to some of thier premium services like Xbox Music or Xbox Video.

Now that would be awesome!

Even outside of the Instant game collection, just getting 1-2 euros here and there off certain games, especially the ones which are on special offer pretty much pays for itself if you have psn+ I find, and those reduced games are permanently yours too not just til the sub ends.

edit - I'm the same as you, love those free games, MotoGP13 last month on the Vita blew me away for a game I wouldn't buy normally... as my sig says heh.

On topic tho, that is pretty cool to hear if they drop this at E3 I know a lot of people were upset by having to pay twice to watch their netflix accounts, heck I have a number of posts on here myself QQ'ing about having to pay MS to be allowed watch Googles youtube service on the system. Could the time of the paywall be coming to an end?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Now if only they'd do like PC and strip al paywalls entirely....

PC companies don't have sh1t to pay for.

Yeah, you're right. MS needs our money. Afterall, if we don't support these little start ups, they just might go out of business.

If you think that's good news, hold tight; Ars also reports that, to compensate, "Xbox Live Gold may put other services behind the paywall to make up for this shift".

Thread won in one post

But seriously, why do this if other services will just takes it place? One forward and steps back.

People are desperate to bash Xbox huh?

thread title needs to be changed from "breaking" to "rumor".

Come on, come on MS. Not being able to do nearly ANYTHING without a Live account was the main reason I never bought a 360 and if that policy holds for the One I'll never buy one of those either...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Glad they changed it (if true), but not going to praise them for something that should have been in the first place years ago.
