Forums - Sony Discussion - SONY results: 3.7m PS3+PS4, 0.7m PSV+PSP. $1.246bn loss FY. GAME $80m loss for year. Expects another $0.5bn loss to March 2015

I guess I can wait the 30 minutes.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

Jesus, the PS3 must have dropped like a rock

Not as bad as I thought it would be.

80.7 billion yen restructing charges! That's some expensive cutting fed charges!

Once you entered you won't be the same anymore. A blog about life.

Sales increased 38.5% year-on-year (a 16% increase on a constant currency basis) to 979.2 billion yen (9,507
million U.S. dollars). This significant increase was primarily due to the launch of the PS4 as well as the favorable
impact of foreign exchange rates. PlayStation®3 (“PS3”) hardware unit sales decreased, although PS3 software
sales increased.

Operating loss of 8.1 billion yen (78 million U.S. dollars) was recorded, compared to operating income of 1.7
billion yen in the previous fiscal year. This year-on-year deterioration was primarily due to an increase in costs
related to the launch of the PS4 as well as the recording of a 6.2 billion yen (60 million U.S. dollars) write-off of
certain PC game software titles sold by Sony Online Entertainment LLC, partially offset by the above-mentioned
increase in sales.

Wow, either we're way over with PS4 or they just didn't ship the PS3.

100 million seems very distant now.

Also, very very surprised to see the gaming division making a loss. Must be advertising the PS4 and stuff. But still...

I susepect both.

360 is still ahead of the PS3 clearly and the PS4 has slowed much quicker than we have.  Not surprising.

Mmm, yes that seems most likely.

I look forward to the comparisons with VGC numbers to come. Also, intrigued to hear what Sony have to say (only a matter of time until they drop some of their divisions you'd think).

So a 17m forecast for next fiscal year on home hardware (PS3/PS4) isn't bad. That's a moderate increase than this year with the assumption that PS3 will continue to decline while PS4 does well.

Their goal on PSV + PSTV at only 3.5m is very low. I noticed that the portables are lower than PC and they discontinued PC. I'm willing to bet that if PS4s connection to PSV plus its games to be announced at E3 don't cause it to meet/exceed those goals, they will pull out of portables.

Overall, a poor financial year for Sony to be sure, even Games were a loss. But they forecast a decent profit in games next year and with no new hardware to push plus no pc game loss to write off, its certainly plausible. I wonder if the rest of their divisions can do the same.

Well off to bed. Interested in reading this thread tomorrow after the presentations/Q&A and any tidbits that come from them.
