I guess we are going to find out now whether it was Kinect holding the XB1 back.
I think they missed an opportunity on a trifecta of equally important areas.
1. Price. They are more expensive than the competition and until recently had no real mass appeal game to really show why someone should buy that more expensive console over the PS4. And you could argue that even Titanfall is not that game, since those potential customers can just buy it on 360 or PC.
2. Initial message. Not only just the DRM, but the whole process of confusing messages, confirmation of something by one executive only to have it contradicted by another later, lack of detail on some potential aspects of the console. Like the family plan idea. They really, really dropped the ball here. I still have people ask me if the Xbox One can play used games or can be played offline.
3. Power. I think it's close enough to the PS4 that it doesn't make much of a difference, but the gap is still there. They should have put in a better GPU.
If I had to pick one though, I guess price. That is the reason imho that the Xbone is losing in it's strongest territory.
