SONY EXPLAINS WHY THE DUALSHOCK 4 LIGHTBAR EXISTS.

I for one think the light is kinda cool, but useless. It makes a lot more sense now...

I will probably buy the Morpheus headset, althought it is kinda scary how it could alienate me even more from the real world.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I haven't used the Dualshock 4 so I don't know if it gets annoying or not, but at least it's all been planned out

I think its still pretty useless... They couldn't have a simple off switch for it? I mean come on, I doubt everyone is gonna buy that VR thing anyway.. Why not just have a simple on and off button to turn it off for the people that dont want it?

Also, did you know that puppies die everytime someone puts caps on the title? Something to think about loll

Sorry about the Caps, I will keep that in mind =D

I guess the on-off thingy would increase costs or something, doesn´t make much sense to me either =/

Funny how they could not tell what it was really for at the console launch, that was probably a challenge for PR people and marketing staff...

I thought it was gonna be a better explanation. That doesnt explain why it has to be on all the time. If anything it supports the idea that it doesnt, because the Morpheus is an acessory that isnt yet available.

I still choose to believe a more likely explanation: Ego's. Some guy had this idea that he thought was amazing and the others let him run with it. The light bar is a poor idea and it should be removed from the controlled with due haste. It serves no practical purpose. Even if its because of Morpheus. What does it matter? You will have a visor on your face. You're not even gonna see that light!

So i believe this is a technical issue that was completely blindsided because of the Ego behind this idea. No one wanted to take this person on and he wants to be able to say that his touch is there in the system. Pretty much like the kinect with the xbox1.

I think it is for the PSEYE to see, not the player, since it is for tracking and all. To be honest, I like the light, it is kinda fun to me, but I see how one could think it is stupid, I am just easily amused I guess.

The light itself can get quite annoying in some games (Tomb raider beeing an incredibly bad offender, but i doubt its much of a problem now that it dimmed). But, batery life overtrumps little lights and little microphones and little touchpads and little rumble feature. There is nothing more annoying than having to stop your gaming session cause the controller ran out of battery.

The recharging wires on the Playstation 3 and 4 are incredibly short so i cant continue the session at all. This is something that needs to be done every 2 days on the PS4 if you are using it. Its a constant bother.

Awesome.

I really don't get what the big deal with the light bar is. It's just a really bright LED. Doesn't take up much battery. I don't have any reflection problems either. Seems pretty harmless.
