Got a Wii U on impulse (kind of) and would like some recommendations on games to buy and what to look out for. Of course tropical freeze will be my first purchase and Mario kart at the end of the month (plus wind waker for free). X and smash bros as well as bayonetta 2 are already a day 1 purchase but that's about it I feel. What else is there on the horizon?

Nice purchase! Hope you enjoy it; I would suggest Super Mario 3D World, and Pikmin as well.

On the horizon you've got most of the "big" games up there but E3 should shed some light on it

3D World and Pikmin 3 are definitely worth the money! Also Zelda WW HD if you havent played that yet!

SMT x Fire Emblem should be coming in the future aswell as Zelda U.

They say more stuff will be announced this E3.

On the horizon you mentioned most of them but I'm excited for Sonic Boom.

There's a lot of backlog you can do NSMBU+NSLU, Pikmin 3, Sonic Lost World, Rayman Legends, Zombi U, and a couple other party games and eshop titles. Plus the whole wii collection so there's that.

Rayman Legends is amazing and the best 2D side scroller around. Pick up the wonderful 101 for about $15. Get a Nyko pro controller off of groupon for $12. Pre order Mario Kart 8 and it comes with a free download for pikmin, zelda or a few other games (as you said). Enjoy!!

Wonderful 101, Super Mario 3D World, NES Remix 1 and 2, Lego City Undercover, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros U + Luigi U are all great games that i feel are a necessity to own if you have a Wii U.

Thanks for the replies. I already have monster hunter on 3ds as well as rayman legends on vita, I was looking at wonderful 101 since it is very cheap and has always interested me, and how good are the nyko pro controllers? I never get a third party controller but may have to so I can get 4 player action in Mario kart 8.
