Nintendo showed of an exclusive mode for the 3DS version, but the Wii U got none. Since the NFC project should be done for Wii U by the end of the year, and the game will launch late 2014, I think they'll add a mode where you use the Nintendo figurines in some fashion in the console version.

Note that this also explains why the Wii U version comes out after the 3DS version, since they have to wait for the NFC project anyways, and can spend the extra time on development as well.

I do not think this will be their main NFC game, that title remains for something else, but since they said it would be used in multiple games, I think a Smash bros. mode will get it. And be honest, what better way is there to kickstart this NFC figurine masterplan of theirs?

The game wasn't delayed.

I kinda hope not... I know it makes sense but each figure will cost like what? $12 if we were to follow Disney Infinity's method of figure prices.. I really don't want Smash Bros to have anything like that

$60 + $12/figure is like such a terrible thing for me... I hate dlcs, microtransactions, paying for online and etc and this is basically falls into that catogory nicely. The only way this would make sense is if the original game is free imo

As long as the reasoning for the characters are there, as in couldn't be done without NFC, I'll be more than happy.

What I find really interesting though is how they are to be used in many titles. Makes it a bit more bearable.

Actually Pokemon Rumble U figures were like 4$.

The figures should be smaller for Nfc so in turn they cost less.

Consoles: 3DS, Wii U, and Vita soon. Super Paper Mario fan.

I think so too.

Though I think it will be part of the build your personal figurine character that enables easy start/settings for you in SSB.

I don't think there is a "main" NFC game. The toys will simply work with any major Nintendo Wii U/3DS game going forward (at least the family friendly ones) and Smash Brothers will certainly be a major part of that.

It's actually probably smarter to do it that way because if you limit it to just one game, then what happens if the game isn't that well recieved or a person doesn't want to pay $60 for a seperate game? They can just get the toy they want and get some use out of it with whatever Nintendo game they buy.

Besides I don't think it's Nintendo's style to make a "their own Skylanders game". They do things their own way.
