The promise of no droughts? Said by Iwata and Reggie? The promise of better HD devolopment? And what do Sony adn MSFT have to do with this? To me they can die any day, I don't care as I don't like them or have any of their consoles, unlike Nintendo.

I don't have examples? I have already mentioned two! And finally it is not my intention to say they will drop the console tomorrow. Just that numbers are not in favor of them and can replace the console in the near future.

Seriously, calm down. I'm not the responsible for their bad perfomance, and rather than aplogy for their mistakes is better to read and make remind their history.

What has to do is that no one can deliver a first party game every month.

Those really arent promises to go by. They understand the problem but they dont have the resources to make it go away by themselves. What you should be saying is: Why dont they buy more studios or open more studios?

I am perfectly calm. I don't live or die by Nintendo. I do think that they make games with great quality. Even though they are not always my thing. Theres actually few nintendo games i buy. But, the ones i do are extremely good.

The only shocking thing here is that you are refusing to listen to something beeing said to you based on wrong assumptions. Why are you afraid to believe they will keep supporting the Wii U? Because they cant develop games at an insane pace on 2 systems or because they got undermined by 3rd parties? Did you really buy a nintendo system for 3rd parties? Heck, for all i know they might even have carried on that promise with VC and indie games.

The promise of better HD development is something they can only prove to you with future releases. Its not an instantaneous process.

We might as well also look at the actual Gibbogame tweet (and note, this guy isn't exactly an expert translator so the original meaning is probably garbled too):

Iwata - we are preparing for next generation hardware as always doing, when release? Difficult to declare..

Iwata- not hopeless or at a loss in coming up with something new but unless existing users satisfied we cannot release next hardware

Nothing about SEGA or supporting the Wii U through 2016/17 was mentioned at all, so some people should settle down a bit. "Satisfying exiting users" could just as likely mean giving Nintendo fans that have a Wii U the standard fill of Nintendo IPs -- your Marios, Mario Karts, Smash Bros, DKCs, Zeldas, and probably a Metroid thrown in there at some point.

Exactly. Nothing about a time. They could release anyday, when thye believe is the right time.

Yeah, just forget it. Time will tell show us what Nintendo was thinking.

I was under pressure when writing that post. I have fixed some of the typos.

That is the point, yes. Nintendo's future is written with actions and not words. So far though, i see no reason not to believe they wont properly support the Wii U.

I would never bother with them again if they ended the wii u early

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

Wii U will have a 2D Mario, a 3D Mario, a main Zelda, a spin-off Zelda (Hyrule Warriors), a HD Zelda remake (WW), the standard Mario Kart, Smash Bros, sequels to Wii Fit and Wii Party, repositioned Wii Sports (Club), a new Pikmin, a new Donkey Kong Country.

Plus Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, Xenoblade 2, LEGO City, Fatal Frame, Yarn Yoshi, SMT x Fire Emblem, Pokken Tournament Fighters, Nintendo Land, and NFC toys.

Throw in a few more unannouced games like a Metroid U, a Mario Party U, maybe a Mario Galaxy HD Collection ... and that's good enough for Nintendo to call it a day with the Wii U. That's equal or better than Nintendo's GameCube output, if you're still going to complain after that, you have seriously warped ideas about how much a company can realistically invest in a format that has a userbase of only 15-18 million users.

Projects like Mario Galaxy 3, the next Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 3, Retro's next game, (all of which I do believe are early in development) will quietly be moved over to Nintendo's future Fusion platform. Maybe if its really easy to port, they will consider Wii U ports, so that might be the Wii U's saving grace for 2016/17.

In fact I think that's more likely what Iwata meant.

The time portion was pulled from separate information where they discussed future hardware planning in FY16/17. If I remember correctly, within the actual financial report. (not presentation)

Which had nothing to do with the Wii U, it simply stated that Iwata forsees soft/minimal profit margins the next two fiscal years, with their hope being that they can break through in FY17 to "Nintendo like" profits. That likely is referencing Nintendo's future hardware projects (QoL and 3DS successor) more than anything, that they are banking on those to bring their profit level back.

Nothing was said at all about any time frame for the Wii U to be supported.

The spiral of negativity envolves everything! Financial reports, statements, nothing matters! The Wii U has to die cause these guys will it so!
Heck to past examples, to logic, to official statements. The Wii U is to rot in the outside for 2-3 years while Nintendo does nothing with it, focus on the 3DS and releases a new system in 2017 like nothing happened and will turn into a magical sucess.

Do you listen to yourselves? Cmon... dial it back a bit.

You're entitled to your opinion. But I think mine plus the info in OP stack up better.
