I agree until that point. The later is just lies just as how they were ready for HD development (struggling until now) and there won't be droughts after launch, and after E3 last year (and there were droughts after launch and after last holidays).

They are ready to launch a new console and they will see when, not when you say you are satisfied. It could happen tomorrow or in ten years. I don't know where you get the 2017 date. That's just speculation.

If we assume everything people say is false, there really is no truth.

Iwata said they wont release until customers are satisfied, specifically mentioning the SEGA example. You are in denial.

I don't believe he actually said that, people are misquoting up the ying-yang. All he said is they are working on new hardware (NOTE: that doesn't mean a new console people), but they don't know the release date of said hardware and they can't move on from Wii U until there's some level of satisfaction. I don't believe he actually mentioned SEGA directly at all.

I was in denial believing them. I don't know in what world do you live, in the one I do they have failed to deliver their promises since Wii U launch.

It's more whishful thinking than reality. I don't know how people can spin this as Nintendo investing more money in a console that they forecast to sell 3.6M

Didn't he also say that they weren't releasing any new handhelds any time soon, about 8-12 months before the 3DS released? These are mere words and if things don't improve significantly, there is no reason not to replace the Wii U within, say, 2016, especially if their plans of tandem software development for two simultaneous platforms are to come to fruition.

The device was announced in March 2010 and released March 2011. So I don't think he said that.

Nah, there was something, I can't seem to find a link. And I meant before the 3DS was announced, small slip-up there. They denied any replacement for the DS not long before the 3DS was announced. They also denied a new 3DS model a few months before the 2DS was officially revealed;

http://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-denies-wii-u-3ds-rumors/

Reggie & Iwata & Miyamoto have all seperately said since June 2010 that they won't release a redesign, and that they might release a 3DS XL but it would be the same as the 3DS, except bigger screens. And in June 2012 guess what they had announced.

Quality of Life platform - Launching in spring 2015

Nintendo Fusion Hybrid platform - Likely launching between November 2015-spring 2016

Is going to be Nintendo's focus for 2016, anyone who thinks its gonna be about the Wii U is going to be in for a rude awakening, but really what do you have to complain about? By then the Wii U will have gotten its standard quota of all the big Nintendo franchises and even some pretty kick ass support titles like Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade 2, W101, Pikmin 3, and a bunch of NFC toys.

How much more do you seriously expect Nintendo to do for a system that's probably going to fizzle out with 16/17 million users or so? HD games are freaking expensive to devlop too, be happy that Nintendo hasn't bailed out already.

What promises are these? The game every month thing? Do you see Sony or Microsoft doing that with their first party studios? They overestimated HD development, like other companies before them. But they still deliver some of the best games in the industry. Consistant quality. And that certainly is better than a game every month.

You dont want to believe what the people in charge are telling you and there arent any examples to what you are sugesting. What do you call that?

You want me to belive Nintendo is gonna drop the console even though they say they wont and they understand why it would be a bad idea? There is logic, there is will.

Cut yourself some slack.

The Wii U honestly could by the end of 2015 will have pretty as good of an output as the GameCube did LTD.

Not even that long I'd say; it's almost there already, MK8 should push it over the edge in my view.

Whoah whoah! Hold your horses! You must not have liked GCN very much because to me WiiU ain't close yet! Give it 18 months.

I found GCN to be Nintendo's nadir.

They butchered Zelda, 3D Mario, and Starfox, overcomplicated Mario Kart, and Melee's one of the most overrated games in existence. Metroid Prime 1 & 2, RE4, and Twilight Princess were awesome, but they had superior Wii versions.

Absolute nonsense, Melee is ridiculously good, hence the reason it's still being played today.  Speak for yourself about WW, game was/is great.

The promise of no droughts? Said by Iwata and Reggie? The promise of better HD devolopment? And what do Sony adn MSFT have to do with this? To me they can die any day, I don't care as I don't like them or have any of their consoles, unlike Nintendo.

I don't have examples? I have already mentioned two! And finally it is not my intention to say they will drop the console tomorrow. Just that numbers are not in favor of them and can replace the console in the near future.

Seriously, calm down. I'm not the responsible for their bad perfomance, and rather than aplogy for their mistakes is better to read and make remind their history.

What promises are you talking about?

We might as well also look at the actual Gibbogame tweet (and note, this guy isn't exactly an expert translator so the original meaning is probably garbled too):

Iwata - we are preparing for next generation hardware as always doing, when release? Difficult to declare..

Iwata- not hopeless or at a loss in coming up with something new but unless existing users satisfied we cannot release next hardware

Nothing about SEGA or supporting the Wii U through 2016/17 was mentioned at all, so some people should settle down a bit. "Satisfying exiting users" could just as likely mean giving Nintendo fans that have a Wii U the standard fill of Nintendo IPs -- your Marios, Mario Karts, Smash Bros, DKCs, Zeldas, and probably a Metroid thrown in there at some point. In fact I think that's more likely what Iwata meant.
