Forums - Gaming Discussion - Megaton? Nintendo just spent over 100 million on a mystery acquisition

It's surprising they can keep something that big a secret. Usually there would have been rumours a few weeks before and everyone would know when it happened.

Also it is worth noting it says tech acquisition, this would suggest it is not a dev studio.

maybe a company developed an AI that can develop games lol.

I would be happy if that was them buying Platinum, but since it has its a tech aquisition, it is some tech for the QoL systems. Nothing to be excited about.

Money, Money, Money, Money----Money!

Nintendo needs to stop with the newly operating loss.

Nothing like companies posting massive losses and then spending even more money.

The Japanese are so silly.

as opposed to US companies paying useless CEOs millions a year?

VR and all that sounds nice but QOL is non wearable according to Nintendo themselves.

Im so lost as to what QOL actually is

perhaps its a grid of micro beam projectors you setuo around the room to create  VR environment?

I absolutely agree that CEOs don't deserve millions. However, I don't believe any company should spend more money when they can't post a profit. If you aren't making money and you blow more of it on a risky purchase, that may lead to even further losses. Sony has been doing this for years, and they're still losing money years later.

And if this purchase isn't particularly risky but is instead a solid investment for the future?

Hey, it might be. I don't like to gamble though :P
