So Wii has an off week and supply shortages and still comes out on top?

Can someone explain this?

it is more popular - nothing we didn't know before, right?

Damage control FTW!! :)

On a serious note the wii will continue to outsell the other consoles for the short term. A possible reverse could happen when the other consoles hit mass market pricepoints. Obviously things should be very interesting around the period of GTA4's release.

More on topic the obvious reason why the wii came out on top overall is Japan where the wii is obviously not supply constrained and is doing very well.

off week ?

Japan/PAL numbers are pretty good man ...

Time to Work !

compared to 400K sold in 1 week I'd say this is an off week.

most likely due to supply shortages.

If there are 1million Wii's produced a week all 1million of them would be sold.

Well you just explained it yourself

uh.. maybe demands. I dunno... I don't wanna think about it too much but if someone knows why. Please enlighten us.

The only thing that I know is that I'm not a part of the 235k that bought it.

What a mind boggling phenomenon.

if the wii had an off week, and manufacturing remains the same, then who could their be a shortage?

to me this coninual use of "wii shortages" is starting to get a little old, one would think that by now Nintendo could and should be pumping out Wiis much faster than they are, could it be that Nintendo them selvs don't see the wii lasting that long and because of this they don't want to risk creating more factories in case there assumptions turn out true and wii's bubble burst???

just something to think about.

1.8 million wii production a month translates to 450k weekly worldwide sales per month. So far it has only reached that average last week in 2008. So I guess we will see Wii sales explode around SSBB release in US.
