I would have taken the thread more seriously from almost any other user... instead I feel like NPD is more accurate than I previously felt... even though your OP is basically verbatim of what I previously thought

Its human to judge an argument on the person who made it, but is it correct? I doubt it

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

If we look at the latest financial year report of Nintendo. It looks like to be over-tracked by a several 100.000 units :/

I know the whole point you were trying to make was "stop trying to discredit VGC by using NPD because NPD can be wrong too" (which is incredibly flawed argument in itself) but what do you think of VGC numbers now showing  a measly 170k wii u's on shelves (that would represent a supply constrained console. VGC had more than that on shelves for the PS4) and more sold than shipped 3ds'

Around the Network

I had to think about what point you were trying to make, but I think I've got it now. If the whole point was to say that we shouldn't discredit VGC numbers with NPD because neither are perfect...well, it's poorly argued, but it's unnecessary. You even say in a post later that VGC only needs a little bit of accuracy. VGC's strength is it's speed. It's accuracy is decent, but it's speed is unbeatable. That earns it respect from some investors, and certainly from impatient forum dwellers on the internet. The people who try to discredit it with VGC are being silly, since they don't know if things are going to change from previous months, so you might as well just wait for the NPD, and if VGC is wrong about Xbone pulling ahead in the US, then it'll make adjustments. VGC doesn't usually keep making the same mistakes for too long, because it adjusts its next predictions for its previous errors.

I'm an alternate account.

Hmmm who should I trust on NPD's accuracy Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft, or just a random poster on a sales tracking website. Nothing is 100% accurate there is always room and sources of error. NPD of course is not 100% correct but is the best thing we got, and if the big three use their data then that should be good enough for you and us.

This is where you are wrong, I'm not saying they aren't trustworthy, quite the opposite. read more then just the title please.

@ bolded why keep the status quo?

Agreed. If they themselves are happy to use them as fact, then they are good enough for some random dudes on a forum :P
