Forums - Gaming Discussion - How would PC gaming look like without the console gaming revenue?

I think it's a fair question. How many AAA games will survive if they had only PC gaming revenue?

Well, if Valve ever releases dem sales data, we will find out but probably not that many if we go with this chart:

Not very high but it doesn't include all digital sellers so... Its very hard to tell

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Are we assuming that console gamers will suddenly stop gaming and not just buy PCs instead of consoles to continue their gaming conquests?

If we are, that is just silly...

PC Game sales are nothing to be scoffed at. I really wish VGchartz was able to track them better. They have Dark souls at around 13,000 sold but Steam alone shows 85,000ish people playing at once when the game launched. It'd be nice if steam released their sales numbers more often.

Isn't the console gaming actually making it more expensive...

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

It's a hypothetical.

If I am understanding OP correctly, the question is whether current AAA development could survive on PC revenue alone.

Most if not all AAA's would crash to be replaced with indies and AA games. Even if all console gamers went to PC, budgets across the board would be slashed.

PC gaming isn't pumping back enough money alone into the industry to support it right now.

Yeah, that's what I ment. Thanks for making it a bit more understandable. Agh, one day I'll be able to write fluent English! ONE DAY!

If it would be PC only AAA titles would be smarter games and not as idiot-proof as they are today. They would be other games and would not be cribbled by same key for different things as in controllers or console menu's (like in skyrim) etc.

Games that are PC only would do better. If AAA games would not change at all and still be like console games devs would have a hard time,

Gamers would pirate the games to hell, or wait until they are on sale for super cheap. Either way, it'll be bad for companies trying to get profit.
