This site claim that PS4 reached 14.3 million at the of October.

"UPDATE : PS4 outsold Xbox One almost 2:1 in USA for the month of October '14. Xbox One's global hardware base at the end of October was only ~7 million. In comparison, PS4 reached 14.3 million at the end of October. Microsoft "almost nearing" 10 million number is based largely on their impending global shipments for November and December . Despite the price cut, PS4 easily outsold Xbox One globally for the first 2 weeks of November.

As expected , PS4 outsold Xbox One 3:1 globally in October , 2014. The difference would have been bigger had it not been for US/UK sales. PS4 has also beaten Xbox One for the month of October in both UK and US, so we apologize for spoiling any NPD fun. As of 29th October , 2014, PS4 has sold around 13.8 million units globally. By comparison , Xbox One sits at a distant 6.5 million. PS4 now has more than twice the install base as Xbox One . We have gotten our hands on some raw preorder numbers, but will reveal them mostly in the form of ratios . PS4 has sold over 1 million units globally for the month and garnered some unprecedented steam across Europe . This makes PS4 the first SONY console since PS2 to reach the coveted 1 million mark globally for the month of October."

[Users on this site generally don't believe insiderp but they revealed that PS4 was at 10 million before anyone else.]

Was it? They said "PS4, as of August 2nd ,2014, is just ~100,000 units shy of reaching the glorious 10m" still very close considering vgc was 700k from those 10 million.

just because they were close doesnt mean they were right. they were wrong, and it proves their "sources" didnt have correct info. everytime this happened, they said infamous sold 1 million day one. no, it sold 1 million in 9 days. doesnt matter if their guesses were closer than vgc, they were still wrong.

They also said TLOU remastered sold 1,5 million in the first 24 hours...

Even though they're mostly guesses at least they are educated ones and usually closer than VGC. I believe PS4 is closer to 14m sold than the 13m VGC shows currently.

their guesses certainly have been closer to the right number than VGC. but thats not my point, my point was that their numbers were proven to be wrong, so their "inside information" is not really inside information. its guesses, and thus they have zero credibility. the fact that they were closer than VGC has no effect on my point.

Well you said they were "wrong" but I said they were at least more "right" than VGC, the website we like so much! It's just a bit ironic when guesses make more sense than supposed "tracking" of data.
