Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Eurogamer confirms: Mario Kart 8 is 1080p/60FPS (even in 2-player)

I doubt it. My magical eyes say that it's 720p with the same AA method as 3D World ;)

We can't be sure if it's the same AA as 3D world, but it certainly looks like an equally low level method >.< At 720p the AA would have made the jaggies rather obvious, but if they've hit 1080p then it should be a lot less of a problem than before, which is good ^^

Still, it may not be much of a technical power house but it sure is pretty.

I'll let Digital Foundry be the judge.

Maybe I'm going insane but isn't Digital Foundary part of Eurogamer; who reported this article?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Might be so but that article sounds more like a press release than an actual test.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

They are part of EG but DF is a separate "department" so to speak. I'd be surprised if the author of the article went to them to check it was 1080p/60fps, but that doesn't mean he's wrong (hopefully).

1080p/60fps? Should hope so with that level of graphics.

What is wrong with the level of graphics? How should it be better for a Mario Kart game? It looks really impressive at some stages, you aren't limited in the far view, it runs solid and fluid, it has beautiful art direction.

One way it could be better is adding some AA, for example.

How do you know that there isn't any present?

Difference between HD and Full HD is nothing compared SD to HD.

1920x1080 has twice the pixels as 1280x720 that has four times the pixels as 640x480.

I do not care if its 1080p as long as it is 60fps which is important for a racing game and Wii U is already getting a 1080p 60fps racer Fast Racing Neo also since Super Smash Bros U is 1080p 60fps and with countless 1080p shots from Nintendo and Namco is workin on this game then Tekken and Soulcalibur series on Wii U could run at 1080p 60fps... Since SSBU uses same game engine as latest Tekken and Soulcalibur games....

Nothing wrong with them for a cartoonish kart racer, just saying 1080p/60fps should be easy when not pushing graphics at all.

They are not pushing graphics? First people laughed about WiiU even not capable to do PS360-graphics, now MK8 is shown which is in no way possible on PS360 and then people say they are not pushing graphics at all...

Awesome news for Wii U. I'm not sure how you can downplay this.

I guess Borderlands is not graphically intensive even with Physix just because it has cartoonish looking artstyle. LMAO

People need to stop confusing artstyle and visual complexity... Cartoonish graphics are just as intensive as "realistic" graphics. Its is pointless to say otherwise... People still believe into that myth... So original Mortal Kombat is more intensive that Street Fighter? Lmao...

A freaking arcade Mario Kart GP/GX looks considerably worse than Mario Kart 8 yet it runs on a motherboard that is considerably stronger than Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Some people just dont pearn...

Couple things here.

1. This article is one month old
2. This article published at the same day says the total opposite: " The graphics are crisp, detailed, and very dense in design, and not to mention this game runs at a rock solid 60FPS and at 720p -- which not only benefits the gameplay, but also the visuals."

So Eurogamer confirms nothing.
