Not a very fair comparison

Wipeout HD is not locked 1920x1080 60 FPS, when FPS drops below 60 then game automatically reduces/drops down rendering/output/display resolution so it is not locked at 1920x1080 60 FPS....

Anyway... Wipeout HD is impressive for its time when it was released, but it is not nearly as impressive as Mario Kart 8... Also it is not a fair comparison, compare Wipeout series with F-Zero or Extreme G series and you can compare it to Fast Racing games fron Shin'en, if you want to compare Mario Kart 8 with some game on HD twins then look at Modnations, Little Big Planet Kart and Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed. Only game on Wii U that we may compare Wipeout HD with is Fast Racing Neo and I would not be surprised if it blows away Wipeout HD in every way possible.

it makes total sense. MK8 rivals ps4 games in graphics. So, if someone says a bunch of ps3 games look better, he/she is forced to say they look better than ps4 games too.

I'm not sure why everyone is losing their minds about this. Beyond the resolution and framerate, the games graphics are really nothing to write home about. They're very cartoony with little detail, and I would be surprised if a system that came out less than 2 years ago could NOT run them at their fullest. Until the system can run a game like inFamous: SS in 1080p at 60 FPS, I'm really not impressed. People should be more focused on whether or not the title lives up to the Mario Kart name.

 For a console that came out 6 years after the other, the difference is very small in terms of performance and overall detail. Problem is the games are almost completely different, so a valid comparison is kindof impossible.
