PC players could start posting charts at least, sureley steam and gfk release charts even without numbers.

Well, Steam charts change I think hourly and aren't really good to know about weekly or monthly sales which is much more interesting and GfK charts are nice but not if you know that they show only maybe 5% or even less of the  PC market.

But I like the list which shows the current player numbers

28,275 47,100   Garry's Mod
27,340 31,945   Counter-Strike

I know i dont post much in the thread but i still think you should change the way you post news in that thread.

I know i already suggested it and people didnt seem to agree, but its super tough to follow the thread if you havent been following every day. And thats not because theres too many posts from too many people (which is the case in the XB1 thread).

Anyways just thought id throw that out there again.

I am happy to change how I post things as long as it doesn't make work for me and other people agree. The question is how to change it. I mean there is a tonne of PC gaming related news constantly. Hell I don't even post all of it as it is, I keep the hardware stuff to a minimum (mostly because I don't follow it all that closely these days) for example. And I usually bundle most things into one post because the thread is enough of me multiposting as it is and it's a bit quicker to do it in one go. And it doesn't help formating in this forum is a pain in the arse. Half the time any formatting I do disapears as soon as it's posted for some reason. It will look fine in the editor but it fucks up as soon as it's posted, even stuff like page breaks dissapearing etc. I could be more selective in what I post of course but that means me trying to decide what is interesting news to post which I try to do little of as something that might not be interesting to me might be to someone else and vice versa. Pc gaming is increadibly diverse lol.

So again I am open to suggestions, and maybe i can try out some different formats. But what I am doing now while far from ideal seems to work, at least for most people.

Sorry Zarx i dont have much better solutions. The only thing I could come up with is to have the current news in the OP.

What we could also do, although this requires a bit more effort, is to have another thread where theres no discussion but just news posts. Then you link to that news post in the dicussion thread (ie. the current thread we have). Perhaps highlighting the news mentioned in the post. That way we can go to the detail if we see something interesting and the dicussion on certain topics wont be broken. It also wont be as hard to follow.

We could also split it up into software and hardware threads, but that will dilute an already thin fan base. It will also require more work from you to sort out the news.

Yeah i dont have much solutions to this, but i do think we need to make some changes to encourage dicussion rather than have such a big focus on news articles. It also takes quite a while for one page to load for me as well. :/

Edit: err this could also backfire in that we might find that hardly anyone is posting and that your news articles was the only thing keeping the thread going...which very well might be the case

Well for starters, "glorious mater pc gaming race" fans are just so awful it makes me want to stay away from PC gaming

But the draw isn't there in the same way it is for consoles. Most of us came here because of sales and even if not every discussion is based around sales, it's the reason we came here

But in reality, the whole site seems quieter than it used to

and the ps/xo fans regarding the wii u aint?

Yeah I just checked it a few minutes ago and was surprised to see DSII so high. Looks like it did very well on PC.

It had 80k simultaneous players on day one so that sales have to be really high.

I mean, we have different time zones, we have people who have to download the game while others could already play it and  there are obviously many who simply didn't play the game because they had something else to do. Wouldn't surprise me if first week sales would beat Xbox 360  and  even Ps3 sales outside of Japan and with the awesome Steam legs this game will be a huge success on PC.

Yeah, I do genuinely feel that PC gamers can be much much worse. Console fanboys are fairly bad, but they never seem so smug

Do people even bother checking the OP of long threads? Especialy a super long thread like that? I would have thought everyone just goes to their last unread (default behaviour) or just skip to the last page. The current thread often goes days with no one but me posting and I am not sure that splitting the attention across 2 threads is likely to help that, tho if people are interested I guess I could try create a community thread for people to shoot the shit and a news megathread but I think what would happen is the community thread will be pretty dead without it being bumped constantly by me postig news. I am not sure the PC gaming community on here is big or dedicated enough to really support a community thread. One way I can think of to reduce the size of my posts (and also make the pages quicker to load) would be to switch to just posting the headlines without images or bylines but that might just make everything even less readable.

We should have a dedicated PC hardware news thread, it's a topic all to itself essentially.

CHOP CHOP! Get to it Zarx!

Or I deputise you, and make you do it for me. It can also function as the "I need help with my build" thread.

I've never made a thread, I don't wish to break tradition. :P

I love my Pc so much, but this site really doesnt appeal much to the Pc users as people have said before me. Mainly a console site.

Ah probably best to leave everything as is then.

I hardly post there anyways....but what gets me into a thread is the discussions. If i cant follow the dicussion then i tend to stay away. Maybe i just need to put in more effort my side to actually go through the thread.
