I understand. But what does it do in the game. Is it DLC or something?

NFP Reader for the 3DS:
So the toys will work with the 3DS too ... probably smart since the Wii U doesn't have much of an install base.

Mostly cause the console is the one thats doing bad right now... The 3ds is doing great so axing that and making a new handheld while the wiiU is doing poorly basically means burning money since new sku = expensive and the 3ds is basically the thing thats getting them money right now. But yes, they could also be releasing a new handheld, it just would make sense (even though I really wouldn't want them to ever) to axe the wiiU than the 3ds if they must |
Well the Wii U is much newer and the 3DS is trending down. Anyway, I think 2015 is one year too early to be considering a succesor considering the sales trend.

My guess would be the toy does different things in different games, but generally can "collect" your data from various games that then "powers up" the figure so you can use it some way. Probably if you buy a lot of Nintendo games and unlock certain things, your figure might store that data as a reward somehow.
Iwata - need something special for emerging markets to reach mass market, not about localising existing products which have higher price
Iwata - for emerging markets $30-60 game prices are difficult. Need something new but won't be this fiscal year, studying China changes
Good to hear Wii U is not sold at a loss.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
I hope things come of all those interesting statements about new things in developing markets. Sony beat Nintendo in true worldwide penetration early on but as I hear it things are super expensive in many of those places like Brazil. If Nintendo's looking for cheaper ways to serve those markets they could be on to something...
Best news so far:
-WiiU hardware no longer sold at a loss.
-More games than spoken of today will be shown at E3.
-They realize they cannot move on to new hardware products until they are sure they've satisfied their existing consumers. (spares me a bit of worry)
-X 2014 confirmed

if they can release in china and even just a small percent of the entire country that be huge for them cause i read something once on how 1% of the china's population equals about 10 million people
They cannot move forward until they satisfy us is why i love nintendo
Iwata believes that 3.6m wiiU forecast for this FY won't be the peak year for wiiU. He also mentionned that he wanted to be more conservative with his forecast this year.
Predictions for LT console sales:
PS4: 120M
XB1: 70M
WiiU: 14M
3DS: 60M
Vita: 13M
