Forums - Sony Discussion - Theory: Naughty Dog staff IS The Last of Us

It does sound like there are some internal conflicts within ND. Hopefully, it doesn't affect U4 too badly or at all. It just seems so odd that after the ginormous success of the uncharted franchise and now TLOU basically becoming a contender for GOTG, people are jumping ship.

Well when it's a high caliber studio like ND people notice and usually jump the gun a bit too much.  Sure Amy and Todd being out of UC4 is a bit worrying, but I still don't think it will affect UC4 that much.  The two who have only worked on TLOU are nothing to worry about.  People leave all the time after the completion of a game especially if they don't want a to work on a sequel, which is my theory on why the last two left.

I believe I just read somewhere about other people leaving other studios, but I don't believe they were huge studios as well known as ND so there were no reports on them.  Though I could have dreamed that, idk. :-p  I'll see what I can find.

Amys work on UC4 was probably done as well as the lead artist for TLoU if he was apart of the sequel

What's way more likely is that due to the reputation of the studio other studios are trying to get a pice of the cake by trying to get the talent.
meaning they probably get tons of job offters and stuff.

That and in this industry it's not unusual for people to change their employer (a lot). And this is just getting more attention because its ND.

Yeah that's what my first thought was about Amy's departure, but you never know.  Even Todd leaving and his character being recast doesn't really mean anything.  Sure they do mocap, but they do not mocap facial features, at least I don't think so.  They have always animated everything by hand and not by having mocapped features.  That may have changed though with the new gen, but I doubt it.

*edit*  Add that so that likely means they are keeping the character design, just someone else will voice him and do body movements for the character.

I mean yeah, ND is a large side group so 4 people leaving is not devastating. I'm all for trying to keep your career fresh and exciting, sequels can be pretty campy. Still, from an financial stand point, why would you leave a company with SO MUCH success under its belt? Career wise, it's just silly.

My thoughts on this entire situation. It's not much of a situation at all.
