Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One isn't Number One, but that does not equal 'Doing Terribly.'

I'm amazed by what I see repeatedly online, and especially in the forums here: an assumption that the Xbox One, by virtue of not being number one, is doing terribly.

PS4 is doing great! I'm very happy to see it doing so well. It's an awesome, affordable, and powerful console with a lot of great experiences. It's selling great.

For the week of April 12th, the PS4 sold 127k. The Xbox One sold 92k. About a third less than the PS4. The Wii U sold 32k. That's less than one third OF the Xbox One's sales.

I will agree that PS4 is winning the generation. It doesn't always win the NA region (the Xbox One frequently sells more than PS4 in the NA region on a weekly basis), but it wins globally. It's doing great. The Xbox One, for its part, is outselling its predecessor, the Xbox 360, at the same point in time. It's selling well. Its software is consistently in the global top ten, despite the console only doing really great in a few regions.

I'm just surprised at how many people act like not being number one is bad, or say that the Xbox One is doing just as poorly as the Wii U. It's just not number one. I don't understand how it became the most hated console of a generation for little to no reason. I love mine.

not only that,. it outsold the ps4 in the US!

i agree with you, with no cross-gen games both will doing better

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

It hasn't done badly so far, but there is some concern going forward, now that it is tracking behind 360.

I think the sales of PS4 and X1 might be more front-loaded than I thought, and the next few months we are going to see some brutally low figures

Xbox one is not doing as poorly as the wii u.. only crazies think otherwise.. Ps4 is a great console. Sony did everything right leading up to launch.

Is xbox one the best console out there? to some yes, to others Nope... there more sony fans out there in the world than xbox fans. ..bottom line is you will always hear of xbox one not doing well..when in reality it is just not selling as well as the ps4... given 2 years, i predict price cuts of xbox one and awesome games for xbox one...only time will tell.

Praise the One.

no, it doesn't.

Pretty much. X1 doesn't have to dominate to be a success. I'm sure Microsoft would be happy if they sell 50m consoles this generation.

Proof? I have seen otherwise. I guess if you want to be mishymushy about what 'frequently' means, but I think that puts the burdon of explaining why you are being so stingy on you. It outsells PS4 in the NA region at least 1/5th of the time. Four weeks a month, six months since launch, that means at least five out of 24 weeks. I'm confident that it has done that.

NPD is monthly sales. I'm talking about weekly. Hence me saying 'weekly' sales. No need for the snark. It shouldn't be offensive that I am pointing out that several times in the last six months, the Xbox One has outsold PS4 in the Weekly NA Sales.
