Forums - Gaming Discussion - Can Persona 5 (Crimson?)Be Multiplat With The Next Nintendo Handheld (or Exclusive)? PQ Showing Good Signs :0

It could happen, but i'm skeptical. I see Persona Q as being a lot like those Final Fantasy spins offs on the Wii; a consolation prize for a platform that will never get the main entries.

Thats a very good point. Hard to say with persona as this (PQ) will be a spinoff that plays like EO.

I think that Persona 5 will exceed 1 million sales and be the highest in the series.

I think that if P4 couldn't do it on the most successful console in the industry with a 150m installed base, P5 doesn't have a shot with an 80m installed base and a weaker presence in Japan.

True, but take note...Persona 4 for the Ps2 trailer only had about 200k views on youtube in 2008 (the year p4 was released) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O10pqWZPhiU

Persona 5 trailer has over 1 million and still climbing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mZssK05WYo

Actually I disagree, Though the userbase isnt there, Persona 4 Golden sold close to the original with less than an 8mil userbase.

Also Persona has jumped up in popularity that i think it has a very strong chance to surpass a million... Need an Ex? Fire Emblem Awakening. Sold on one of the lowest HW and not only has it surpassed 1mil barrier, its going strong and likely to break 1.5mil by end of this year

I really don't want Persona 5 on Nintendo hardware to be honest. I feel as though not only will it make the costs of developing the game go up more since your developing for multiple platforms, but I just do not believe that the audience is there. Sure, Persona Q might sell decently, but the sales will be no where near Persona 4 on the Ps2. Also lets be honest, non-Nintendo games most of the time never do that good on Nintendo systems.

Looking at Monster Hunter I disagree. Also look at SMT (for the fanbase argument).

Lastly Persona Q is going to do extremely well for a spinoff, dont be surprised when it outsells most of the persona games and gets very close to the Main ones (might even surpass most) :P

I said "most of the time" Monster Hunter is obviously an exception, and yokai watch and maybe bravely default. But yea SMT sold good because it was a Main Numbered Series. But SMT and Persona are different, and SMT fans will tell you that themselves. I guess we will see at the end of the day. I want Persona Q to sell well because at the end of the day it means more games for us consumers to play and more money for one of my favorite companies, Atlus:)

Your post with Spem, Views=/=Sales but i do think P5 has a shot at 1mil WW.

Persona Q is supposedly having a very strong First Week Opening. I might even have a chance to sell close to 200k FW O.o

Stop reaching for the stupid "there's no mature fanbase" argument. Monster Hunter, Fatal Frame, Resident Evil, Metroid, Madworld, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, and a shit load of other games would like to speak with you.

Also guys, is Persona 3 Portable a good place to start for somebody entering the series?

I want to go for PG4 but i might be able to pick up P3P!

There's two different types of Persona games, one part of the series, Persona 3 and 4, are very story heavy and add the extra turn option when attacking weaknesses plus the all out attack, while the first three, Persona 1 and 2, are more exploration based but still have a deep storyline, there's no extra turn option, but you hae guns and back row weapons since all characters aren't in the front row.  Persona 3 and 4 have shadows as enemies, while the others use demons from the rest of the franchise and on the others, you talk to the demons to get their Persona, rather than having a chance to get a Persona based on the floor or floor and area in Persona 3 or 4.

If you have a PS2 or PS3, or even a 3DS(which I know you do, I'd actually recommend SMT Nocturne. SMT4, and Digital Devil Saga over them.  I think these games are better than the Persona games as not only do they have great storylines, but the gameplay is much better, and the well designed dungeons and world.  Digital Devil Saga is almost as good as Nocturne, but i'd actutally recommend it more to a beginner because of how it plays.  All three games have the press turn system which reduces turns you can take or increases turns based on hitting weaknesses or strengths.  On Nocturne and SMT4 however you recruit demons sort of like a dark style Pokemon.  On Digital Devil Saga, you have a specific amount of characters with three allowed in your party at one time, switcheable at any time outside of combat or during combat if needed.  The characters stick with the same strengths and weaknesses through the entire game, but there's sort of a class system called mantra.  Each mantra you master allows the character to permanently keep those skills.  While you're still limited in combat to how many skills you can have equipped at once, when you're outside of combat, you can customize the characters battle skills anyway you like.  The game is still very difficult, but it's easier to manage than having the right demons.  Although you're a Pokemon fan and you're used to the whole team building aspect, so you should be fine with Nocturne and SMT4, but DDS would be easier for some to get into.

Hmmm... I see. I bought SMTIV and just started playing it (man its F-ing Hard!). My younger brother finally beat the game and he loves it! Top 3 currently in our 3ds library!

I was thinking about getting Nocturne and digital devil, especially cuz my brother is getting heavily into the franchise (as with megaman :0).

I will say SMTIV is very impressive, some hardcore ****!

Well, SMT4 is the worst of the three, but still a great game.  Like I said above, DDS is still a very hard game, but easier than the other two because you can switch your attacks outside of combat whenever you want, assuming you have the attacks.  You'll still be near the end of the game before you have some of  the more powerful attacks and some mantras require you to kill certain bosses to unlock.  Once you beat DDS, which is around 30-40 hours there's DDS2 which has a lot of changes to it, including how the mantra grid works.
