Forums - Sales Discussion - Xbox One Shipments closing in on WiiU

So Xbox One shipments are at 5.1m vs WiiU's 5.86m.

Nintendo have yet to report their Q4 figures but have forecast 390k which would bring them to 6.25m. I should note however that Nintendo rarely hit their home console forecasts (and have missed for the past 4/5 years). So under 390k should definitely not be ruled out.

Regardless, the gap is around the 1 million mark.

Can MS possibly outship WiiU next Q with MK coming?

The same Q last year WiiU shipped 160k.

MK8 is still quite a bit away so MS has a chance but after that releases, probably not for a bit

Didnt they OVERshipped? There are like 800k-900k on store shelves, next quarter wont be 1.2mil again. It was only huge cuz of Titanfalls release. In terms of sold we (vgc) have it overtracked, so no i doubt it

Edit: Last year doesn't mean anything, This Year there is MK8, and beside didn't they overshipped from holiday 2012?

Curious, but wats your prediction for X1 shippment this Quarter?

Oh Seece...don't you know that the Wii U will easily surpass 7 million this quarter? Because MK just is a monster like that, reviving a console believed to be dead all on its own and making it sell over 700k in a summer month.

The X1 will never catch the Wii U. :p

Okay before I get killed here, let's be serious. It seems unlikely, the next months are the slowest of the year and the Wii U should still have a shipment advantage of 900k to 1 million, maybe even a bit more, I would be surprised if the X1 managed to overcome that difference and whatever amount MK adds to the Wii U numbers in the next quarter.

Well Mk falls in this current Q, so that's the reason it'll be an interesting comparison.

On one hand you've got super low sales same Q last year for WiiU (160k) but then you have Mario Kart which is a complete unknown when it comes to how it'll effect sales.

XB1 for sure won't ship 1.2m this next Q, but their baseline clearly isn't going to be what WiiU's has. Maybe the two will meet in the middle somewhere?

Haha, why of course, how silly of me!

Yeah I'm not expecting many (if any gains) this Q, Q3 will be interesting tho.

Hard to say but I would go with them being even at the end of the quarter. April and May will go to XOne, and June to WiiU due to MK8 and bundle.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Ohh, I thought you meant as in they are getting as small quarterly as Wii Us...
When are Nintendo's numbers due?

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!
