Forums - Sales Discussion - Prediction: Wii U will be discontinued by 2015

I doubt it- good way to lose consumer confidence. Would you buy a Nintendo console if you thought they could pull the plug at any time?

I think consumer confidence has already been lost.

To discontinue it would be for a replacement console, and it seems too soon for that. I doubt that will happen, but it's possible that support may be pretty weak 2015 on.

Smash Bros looks pretty awesome, so it could turn around a bit at the end of this year.

MK8 And Smash will be huge commercial flops. They will sell well below expections.

Commercial flops eh? Wat do you thinkthey will sell lifetime? Ths should be interesting

Two dozen, between them. And that's with me buying two of each.... Just doing my part to support my favorite gaming company.

The Wii U will fail to sell more than 9 million copies by the end of 2014.

If I'm not mistaken, consoles are refered to as units, not copies.

I predict you will be discontinued from this forums by the power of my sword! Now... begone basless predictor! (My sword takes some time to affect you but you will be gone in a few hours, trust me.)

Oh shit, I thought these bold prediction threads were over! But there's no way your prediction will come true. It just isn't logical.

I don't know why you post like this but please don't stop!

On topic: I think your prediciton of Wii U not selling over 9 million is true. Doing so means Wii U will have to sell 50% better than it did in 2013. Only the Wii has done that so far, and we know the Wii U is definitely not like the Wii.

As your prediciton about Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros selling less than expected, it really depends on how much Nintendo expects them to sell. I say less than five million for both is really bad. Above 5 million is okay. Above 6 is great. Above 7 is amazing. Above 8 is magnificient, and above 9 or more is crazy good.

I think snapping into a Slim Jim is bolder than this prediction.

I think Nintendo will blow their loads in 2014 and make the decision after this christmas.
I mean, if X, SSB and MK8 fail as hard as Donkey Kong, they will probably release the next console on the 2015 hollyday, but that is a decision they will not take lightly.
However, if they get to a 10 million install base this year, I think they will hold on till 2016.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I could maybe see it being discontinued at the end of 2015, but I don't see it happening before then, and I wouldn't bet on it happening then either. I'm guessing 2015. I think both mk8 and super smash bros will be the best selling games to date for the wiiu, but, with that being said, they will achieve only moderate success. I don't see either games being flops when both have a history of being successful.
