Now the question is: Why do you disagree?

SEGA is more than console games (for example arcade games) and publish some series that I don't see Nintendo having enough interest in. (Total War series, Football manager, Phantasy Star for example) A company doesn't just buy another company if there is no real reason to.

Sonic, Virtua Fighter, (whats your beef with Phantasy Star? Online MMO on the Wii U would be great, aswell as single played ones), Persona, SMT, Sonic racing, Miku, Shining Force, Shining (action) series, Sakura Taisen, Valkyria chronicles. puyo puyo, Skies of Arcadia.

They have lots of popular japanese stuff that might interest Nintendo and would give some of their own franchises a rest between sequals (for example they can alternate Fire Emblem with Shining Force and makes VS games, same thing for Sonic Racing and mario Kart, X and Phantasy Star) but it also gives them some poweful IP's they severely lack like a fighting game on Virtua Fighter, exclusiveness past the 3 game deal on Sonic, dancing games on Miku and space channel 5, shooting tactics with a friendly art on Valkyria Chronicles, etc.

I think they complement each other quite well. But, i can understand if you say something like Capcom would be a better investment. No doubt Capcom has more heavy hitters these days whereas the SEGA ones are very dormant.

The idea is that many want Nintendo to have a more diverse game library. That is why Sega would be good for them, because Sega has an IP for pretty much everything.

And that's kind of the problem, because it's too diverse. They'd have to adapt to all of them instantly.

Perhaps they should consider buying some of their second party partners...
Just in case anyone plans on pulling their feet out from under them...
Second party agreements have become more and more crucial in the past few years...
I would suggest maybe Vanpool (Dillon's Rolling Western)...
Skip Ltd. (Chibi-Robo, Art Style (love this series), and Captain Rainbow)...
Next Level Games (Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon)...
Monster Games (Pilotwings Resort and DKCR3D)...

Have a nice day...

According to this they have 4.9b in cash reserves.

Nope.  11.6b as of May 2013:

http://www.forbes.com/companies/nintendo/

Ninty's posted losses since then, but not that much.

Meanwhile according to Nintendo's own finances they have $5.5 billion cash and $13 billion in current assets (including the cash) but that's not the same thing.

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2014/140129e.pdf

So no even if Nintendo wanted to the could not afford Sega, Konami, Bandai Namco or EA while Capcom would halve there cash and with there current situation a very bad idea.

Ah, I stand corrected then.  I can't view the pdf at the moment but since it's official, I'll concede that I was wrong.

Apologies to Fusioncode as well.

Nintendo should just develop a quality online service that can compete with Plus and Live and make a console that is attractive to third parties.
