Yeah, and this goes in line with the developers saying that they aim to make the game more balanced. Most likely they are aware that other controller options wouldn't be viable if avoiding a blue shell at all costs was the key to victory.

Oh lol, you mean like in the last tourney on Rosalina's ice world? Me getting knocked over by a Blue shell, followed by a Bullet Bill attack and then Evil conegamer shooting me with a red shell which results in me falling off the cliff?

Well that'll still be an important factor, and according to the poll, it seems most people are gonna use non-gamepad controllers, so anyone using the gamepad is gonna have an advantage over half of the other racers in any given race. However, I'm sure a better player w/o gamepad would still win most of the time over players who have gamepad but aren't as good!
