Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why is it hard to believe that third parties are biased against Nintendo?

Devs and publishers want money. If Nintendo made them money then Devs and publishers would be there but 3rd party games do not do well on Nintendo hardware

repeating the bolded will not make it true.

REASON:

MOST 3rd party games on nintendo console is not doing that good with a few exceptions such as just dance series, some rpgs, and so on.

hint: most third party games aren't doing so hot on ps4/xone either with some exceptions like cor and AC but it's mostly 5 companies games selling well and the rest being meh. not much different than wii u.

see? this argument works for both sides.

What if you repeat it 666 times?

Despite popular belief, Nintendo games aren't so good that they appeal to absolutely everyone and stop people from wanting to buy any other type of game. The reason most 3rd parties sell poorly on Nintendo consoles is due to their completely different demographics. People who buy a Wii U generally aren't the type of people who are interested in AAA 3rd party games and vice versa, hence why games like AC, CoD and the like sell worse on Wii U than on other consoles, but for a Rayman Legends, which appeals

If Nintendo made a console that both audiences bought, both types of games would sell well and third parties would be willing to support it, just like they supported the PS3 at the start of the generation despite its faults simply because their games sold on it.

this demographic thing is also a myth. and there will always be some franchises that sell beter on platform a,b or c.

it evolves from a lie and becomes a demonic lie.

Why does this sound like it was taken straight from a Jimquisition episode? Like completely ripped off?

probably the air of elitism?

but considering the lack of "thank god for me at the end" I doubt it

Also I think Jim likes Nintendo, but he wouldn't defend them especailly if they are doing something that makes less games avaiable for consumers.

He's above all else a consumer advocate.

Which is why I might disagree with him sometimes, but that doesn't prevent me from understanding his viewpoints, cause I am a consumer advocate as well.

No I mean the thread was almost word for word ripoff of a Jimqusition episode.

Hint: If you want people to take your assertions seriously then maybe you should back them up with some proof or evidence. Especially if you're doing something as ludicrous as comparing the 3rd party situation on the WiiU to the PS4 and Xbox One.

Publishers go where their games can make money. EA tried to do it with Dead Space: Extraction which is an incredible innovative light gun game but it sold poorly. Zack and Wiki from Capcom used the Wii-Mote in incredible ways but it sold poorly. Madworld is the most brutal mature title on the Wii, it sold poorly. There games just don't sell well.

Nintendo develops hardware significantly less powerful these days compared to the competitors. There would be a lot of sacrifice to be made to bring a lot of these third party game on the Wii and now Wii U. Another factor I would consider is that the core audience on Nintendo's systems just want Nintendo franchises. I think there is a market for third party games but its very risky, especially now when their hardware is selling terribly.

no offense but mentioning a bunch of isolated cases looks like cherrypicking and they're not even true.

about your examples, deadspace did ok, 450k. other light gun games did great: house of the dead 2 & 3 sold 1.42m, overkill got 820k. RE umbrella and darkaside chronicles did 1.51m and 510k respectively. zack and wiki also did and ok 410k. madworld sold 740k, that's quite good and very profitable. and new ips from platinum don't usually do well.

how about a simpler fact? over 300 games sold 500k+ on wii, most of them are third party, both exclusive and multiplatform. with those sales, the vast majority, if not all, are profitable.

what are you talking about? all tree consoles have third party games doing good and bad. the best selling thirds on ps4/xone are doing quite better than the best selling thirds on wii u but it's pretty even when you look outside of the top 10 games on the three consoles.
