Forums - Sales Discussion - Can PS4 Beat 360's Record in NPD?

I thought about it, and it's possible, but just like in 360s case, late in the generation, when a single game won't skew a stable sales patern, like for example Halo 5 will.

When the sales will saturate a bit, stabilize and single games stop shifting a lot of consoles, it definitely has a chance. Will it happen though? Imo no, but we'll see.

Ohhhh I didn't thought that... nice addiction... late of the gen is a easy period for that... how knows 2017 to 2020.

I think the PS4 will sell better in the US, but every time a new Halo releases I think Xbox One will sell better than the PS4, so 32 months may be impossible.

THIS ^^

Also does anybody have a list of best selling HW of all time (NPD/Month)? Outside of Holiday months of course.

Probably not, even Xbox beat PS2 every now and then. Though I'm confident PS4 will come out ahead in the US.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

No way.

Halo bundle... Price drops... Gears... MS will definitely pull a win here and there.

No, it can't.

No due to Halo.

Very doubtful.  PS4 has own juggernauts like Gran Turismo and Uncharted.

However, for the yearly big 3rd party games like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed, the PS4 versions will look and play better than the Xbox1 counterparts for the foreseeable future (despite DX12), and this will be a big factor for PS4 NPD lifetime victory.

Can't beat the impossible. Because it's impossible.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Remember 3 things that helped 360 in the NPD's…1) it had nov 2005 - oct 2006 to itself, 2) North America is firmly Xbox territory, and 3) it was priced way better than 1 of it's 2 competitors

This go round, it doesn't have a year to itself, and it's price is the worst of the 3. So only 1 of the 3 advantages carry over from 360 to Xbox One.
