Forums - Gaming Discussion - Lords of the Fallen Dev: 1080p 'Tougher' on Xbox One Than PS4

Though the final framerate and resolution of next-gen RPG Lords of the Fallen is yet to be revealed, the developer has acknowledged achieving 1080p on Xbox One is "slightly tougher" than doing the same on PlayStation 4.

IGN spoke to Tomasz Gop, executive producer at CI Games, who told us that while the team was confident they'd be able to hit at least 30fps, their current thinking is it'd be better to operate at a lower framerate in a bid to achieve higher resolutions.

"We definitely won’t be below 30fps, definitely," he said. "I think if we have to choose between resolution and framerate, we’ll probably choose to go full HD 1080p and have a stable, rock-solid 30fps, rather than try to lower the resolution and push it to 60fps because we believe this game looks pretty good, so we’d rather have a decent resolution to show it off.

"We’re working very hard right now to deliver PS4 and Xbox One in 1080p but I can’t confirm whether it’s possible. It’s probably easier for me to confirm it’ll happen for PlayStation 4, because it appears on this one we’re almost nailing it and pretty much there. For Xbox One though, it’s slightly tougher and we’re still working on it, so I can’t confirm that yet."

First announced last yearLords of the Fallen is the new project from ex-Witcher producer Tomasz Gop and has billed itself as "Borderlands meets Dark Souls," promising to provide a challenge for those who play it.

For our full interview with Gop, as well as our thoughts following a brand new look at Lords of the Fallen, check back to IGN later today.

Duh. Will be easier over time.

Hopefully DX12 will make it easier.

Lazy developer!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Yeap... I read a lot that since last year... devil devs.

It'll get easier!

But in all seriousness, no surprises here.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Not surprising, of course.

Any developer that cant match performance with a machine that has 6 more GPU cores is clearly Lazy.

I can get shit to run just as fast on xbox one as it runs on ps4, the higher clock speeds on the xbox one and compartmentizing certain operations to suit the esram make that possible - that said even with dx12 functionality on load balancing tasks across threads and shelving processes, sorting cycle operations and being super efficient, overall the ps4 is, and always will be better at doing the same things either in the same resolutions with higher framerates, or the same framerates with higher resolutions, cpu can only go so far towards bridging the gpu disparity.

Though Etomaz, you would do well not to boast too much, it may well bite you in the ass later on.

Do i mean "xbox one is going to match ps4 in the future" no.
Do i mean "xbox one is going to come super close to ps4 in the future" no.

What i do mean however is that limitations are learned, and workarounds developed, games are still going to be awesome, regardless of multiplat or exclusiveness, and if theres one thing we can take from this industry its that ultimately, there is more to what makes a game enjoyable and atmospheric, then the raw stats.

p.s. dont get your panties in a bunch, and don't tell jay i said something mildly positive about the xbox one, i dont think his heart could take it.

I agree with you. And you mean about the thread? I'm just posting a news from a big site.
