Forums - Sales Discussion - XB1 back at $499 in US?

Amazon started with the whole code thing. By putting "1" or something in the box and then it dropped to $450.

Wrong, it was $449, with the code price dropped to $399!

Microsoft had nothing to do with the price cut.

--- Same link, Microsoft lowered the price to $449 themselves, on their online store.

That was a posting error at like 1am that was corrected in less than an hour. The list price always said 499 on Amazon. You had to get to checkout and either type "1" or after that just get all the way through checkout for the discount to come.

I didn't know it was temporary. I know of limited offers and stuff but a whole month doesn't really scream "temporary". This pricecut was hailed as the savior and haven't seen anyone once mentioning that it will just last a month and go back up again.

I have never seen this in gaming. Usually if a price goes down unless it is like a 3 days sale or black friday it stays down. Once people see it listed a certain price it will hard for them to pay a higher price.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Sony did it with PS3 in 07 dropping $100 until they sold out of their shipment of 60GB SKUs

So you thought that it wasn't temporary even though you had to use a discount code for some retailers?

The $450 version was freely available on Amazon without any need for codes.

As I said, you didn't need any code to get the Titanfall bundle for $449. It said so right on the page. Usually Amazon doesn't drop the price of a product for a whole month and then suddenly goes back to the previous price. That's just too long to be a special temporary offer.

Not really the same, clearing inventory is different than a promotion, but noted I had forgotten about that back in 07.

It was limited, we already knew that. I get the feeling they'll be announcing a permanent price drop before too long, either $450 soon or $400 at E3.

400$ will not happen unless they drop Kinect. 450$ is pretty likely

Just noticed something.

XB1 Titanfall bundle on Amazon US is now ranked in between FIFA (PS4) and Mario Kart 8.

VGC USA, April 12 numbers:
- XB1 61,787
- FIFA (PS4) - Mario Kart 8 pre-orders 6,384

Either VGC is under-tracking these games by a lot (unlikely), or there's been a huge drop in XB1 sales.

My 8th gen collection

Here on Portland on Monday it was 450,00 on MS booth.

It was a limited offer. Everyone knew that.

I wonder if that is why titanfall got such a big boost in last week's sales...
